I'm no Liberal apologist but if you're guy is the one arguing for less taxes on the rich and corporations then chances are he's the corrupt one

Solidarity is not pity. It grows from knowing that when one group is attacked, others will be next. It’s not symbolic or abstract. It means showing up, sharing resources, and refusing to treat another person’s suffering as distant from your own.

Poilievre demands Carney cut taxes, keep federal deficit under $42B in next budget Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is demanding that Prime Minister Mark Carney cut taxes and keep the federal deficit under $42 billion in the coming budget.

I'm getting really tired of these idiots talking about government deficits as if they mean anything

I use Feedly as an aggregator for a lot of new sources, specifically including a mix of anarchist sites, leftist or progressive sites, and mainstream outlets but I can't do all the things I want because I'm on the free tier. Does anyone know if it's worth upgrading for $8/month?

Power, Policy, and Privatization with Simon Enoch The Skeptical Leftist Podcast Β· Episode

Every claim of β€œefficiency” hides a transfer of cost and power. Governments hand control to corporations, and the public ends up paying more for less. Simon Enoch and I break down how that logic became policy across Canada.

You need to chill out about other people's behavior most of the time. If they're not hurting you, just being annoying in a way you can cope with, then cope. It's probably not a problem with them, but wider systems. Get zen with people being people.

They Get Away With Genocide
We’re so tied to money that people can justify anything, even mass killing. Governments fund war, corporations profit, and the public is told it’s complicated. But it isn’t. Most of us know what’s happening is wrong. The only question is whether power will ever listen. #gaza #genocide #warcrimes #so They Get Away With Genocide

Why am I seeing headlines talking about an Israeli military strike testing the ceasefire? If they performed a military strike it seems like they broke the ceasefire agreement

Freedom doesn’t mean much if it only applies to people who never challenge power. The moment someone protests or speaks up, that promise disappears. Governments love to talk about order, but what they really want is control.

Gaza, Ecuador, And Beyond: An Anarchist Look At The War On Protest
Livestreamed on October 7th From Gaza to Ecuador to the streets of London, people are rising up against war, austerity, and repression β€” and governments are responding with violence, surveillance, and criminalization. In this episode of Loose Wires, Nick and I talk about Gaza solidarity marches acro Gaza, Ecuador, And Beyond: An Anarchist Look At The War On Protest

When we recorded this, Gaza was still under bombardment. A ceasefire has been announced since, but nothing about the devastation has changed. Nick and I talked about the protests, the outrage, and how people refused to look away.

Yeah, most countries that are descendants of British colonization were built on genocide and land theft pushed into corporate ownership. States are bad

I'd say that's the myth they sell us but at least since the 80's we've been consistently moving closer to the US model, particularly with the heavy cultural influence from US media. Nora Loreto has a great series of books on this Decline of Canada

Why the Internet Just Keeps Getting Worse with Cory Doctorow Cory Doctorow on how Big Tech broke the internet and what it will take to fix it.

If you’ve ever wondered why every major platform keeps getting worse, my conversation with Cory Doctorow breaks down the cycle behind it. He explains how monopoly power and weak regulation turned the web against its own users.

I don't actually require everyone to agree with me on everything. I just hope that we all have similar goals when fighting capitalism and the state so that we can work together to make life better for everyone

It's a grind putting out episodes and videos regularly, and I try to balance creating for two or three different types of audience (YouTube, podcast, livestream), but I think it's going pretty well. Thanks for being here and thanks for all your support over the years

I'm almost convinced that we'll have an easier time convincing people of the harms of hierarchy and capitalism than we will convincing them that using AI is bad. Even if a lot of the use cases aren't great, people have fun with it, and people don't like it when you try to take away their fun

Power, Policy, and Privatization
Simon Enoch from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives joins me to talk about the power of policy, the rise of neoliberal think tanks, and what privatization has done to Canada’s public life. We get into how governments treat essential services like Canada Post and the Saskatchewan Transportat Power, Policy, and Privatization

Policy in Canada follows the path of least resistance: whatever serves corporate power. I talked with Simon Enoch from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives about how that structure was built and what it means for democracy today.

Neoliberalism depends on resignation. Once people believe the current system is permanent, exploitation feels ordinary. Remembering that it was built through political choices is the first step toward imagining something better.

Power, Policy, and Privatization with Simon Enoch How neoliberalism turned public goods into markets, and what it’ll take to bring them back under public control

Neoliberalism sold efficiency while hollowing out public life. In Canada, services like healthcare and education are under strain, and privatization keeps creeping in under the language of reform. Simon Enoch and I talk about how that mindset took hold

Think tanks shape policy long before a bill is written. The right built entire networks to turn corporate interests into public common sense. Reclaiming that space means funding research and storytelling that speak to solidarity instead of profit.
