The next panel abruptly shows piplup has turned into the digimon Penmon, blushing with eyes gleaming, the background pink with shoujo sparkles and bubble and a new label indicating that it’s a pokemon and digimon fan now

This won't be true in every case, Digimon and Pokemon are unique from each other

However, if you like monster taming games, I believe there's a good chance you'll love Digimon Story Time Stranger! Maybe give the demo a try, the save can carry over to the full game if you get it!
