my review of Marty Supreme is that very few movies need to be longer than 90 minutes

one of my favorite class screenings of the year was tonight—Babyface (1933). I joked about being a Barbara Stanwyck fan and assigning so many of her films, and afterward a community member (our screenings are public) came up to me and said I’m turning *her* into a Stanwyck fan

What this technology is going to do is not end higher education, but it is going to undo so much of the baseline work on accessibility by pushing overworked professors to take things back to offline modalities, in person timed exams, keeping tech out of the classroom, etc.

The Tingler, which is arguably both, has an important scene set in a silent-movie theater!
