03.03.2026 19:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0what if you included the pokemon's 40 time
03.03.2026 19:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The last Amtrak I took in 2024 had 40 year old seats and the bathroom stopped working halfway through. I wish it could be improved because Iβd prefer that more of travel. But unfortunately my takeaway after reading is itβs worse because it wasnβt profitable and as a public service it can be damned
03.03.2026 19:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It feels like a very recent change, last few weeks seems right. My text messages are all signed off with Edited now
03.03.2026 17:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a reformed internet engagement addict, I wish them all luck in realizing itβs not worth it
03.03.2026 17:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can tell bluesky is getting worse and becoming a βrealβ social media because itβs getting easier to find βposts >20 times a dayβ people than ever
03.03.2026 17:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i'm also realizing now that i'm arguing with an internet engagement addict. so i'm going to mute this since it'd be irresponsible to feed into someones addiction.
03.03.2026 17:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0sorry, its clear now that you took my 'everything is rented' to be specifically about homes and not all the other objects in existence. Although your chart shows home ownership hasn't improved in nearing 50 years now, i still recommend you go outside to see how everything is now existing at rent
03.03.2026 17:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0see this is more believable to me than boredom
03.03.2026 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it's ok, youll get to watch that number begin to plummet soon.
03.03.2026 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yes, i understand that now. no issue with you, i enjoy getting to talk politics with people who arent poisoned by it
03.03.2026 17:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i imagine that during that 1999-2003 rise of mortgage that would ultimately help crash the economy, you would be here arguing "its getting better" but it wasn't. it turns out these markers aren't the meaningful ones.
03.03.2026 17:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
this is a wonderful post. thank you so much.
according to this chart, home ownership hasn't gotten "better" since 1975. but it did get "better" during the exact period of the subprime mortgage bubble, until that fell apart- really bringing contradiction to the term "homeowner" if they lost it
Think you should go outside if you donβt recognize the rental economy
03.03.2026 17:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So to make the case that things are βeasier than everβ- itβs also easier than ever to lose everything because everything has adjusted into a rental state. You rent everything. You own very little. Access is improved, but ownership hasnβt. And the latter is what makes a life stable.

Well let me put it this way about that analysis, if you killed everyone below the median, the median marker would improve. That right there is a problem with looking at it that way.
You can say technology is better than ever before, but so is the exploitative markets (housing, gambling, medicine)
I think that requires an assumption that previous societies found purpose in god and didnβt do it as a boring expectation in their routine.
I donβt think boredom is the fundamental factor since boredom drives people to have hobbies probably earlier than it drives them into political battlefields
Sort of a meaningless marker and kind of stupid to suggest tbh. A homeless person isnβt having a better life experience because you can afford an iPhone.
03.03.2026 17:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0So this take especially is one that I donβt think this correct at all, as far as I know most people in the US (letβs ignore globally) struggle with their finances every day since at least the 70s. Itβs actually a very small group of people that donβt. I donβt think thereβs a boredom problem.
03.03.2026 17:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Please donβt align me with blue maga, I do not support either party

Well for one, if youβre getting it a lot it means that regardless of intended message, this is one thatβs coming off from it.
the second statement, I agree but itβs not the message i took from your post. itβs actually unclear bc my first read was βis he saying we need to bomb iran for our freedom?β
I hate whoever changed the iPhone autocorrect so much, itβs so useless now
03.03.2026 16:47 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt think itβs hard to look back at decades of American history including the time period directly after WW2 to see that at all. Many people just didnβt experience it, they were passengers on a pre-set track for so long they still have no idea that track wasnβt available to everyone
03.03.2026 16:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I went back to read your post and want to say I think you (and Denny tbh) are projecting your own comfort prior to all of ~this~ as being the common experience. I think large swath of people who tuned out of reality for a long time, because it was easy for them, but it wasnβt easy for the majority.

I think itβs relieving that most of these news platforms have stopped pretending what they do is informative or useful.
