Some schools will be starved of resources. Other schools will be offered bribes. The end goal is the same. To make the universities an extension of the Trump administration. Shame on any of these institutions willing to take the bribes.

After two days of teaching and faculty/student meetings, the third day is always dedicated to catching up on my email and responding to anxious messages. I believe this cycle will repeat each week this semester.

Waiting for those in power to understand the consequences of their hasty actions. It seems each institution is moving without discussion, investigation, or opportunity for defense.

Every time I open this app, I realize that at this rate, we may all be doing different jobs in 5+ years. By choice or force, depending on which state you live in.

Journal rejections on a Saturday are always a reminder I need to work/write 24 hours, 7 days a week. 😞

Agreed! I didn't articulate it great. My point, was that there is added teaching on top of the usual wardrobe assistance. This teaching is geared toward teaching men how to interact with others. This is a growing industry built on the idea we need to be taught how to interact and engage.

I stepped outside of my academic bubble this summer and spoke to friends/associates and realized dating/life coaches are in demand. Some guys even wear devices to record interactions so they can get feedback, on top of someone choosing their wardrobe. All bc they can't figure out alone. 😫😫

I’ll bet all $5 in my pocket this leads to hiring quotas for white men. Imagine a search committee has 4 finalists: 2 white men, a woman, & a minority. If a white man isn’t chosen, and yearly data shows they’re not a significant majority of hires/promotions watch how fast that becomes “a problem.”

I do believe good work is being done at Columbia University. I hope all colleagues and associates at Columbia find ways to move forward.

That being said, I would not recommend to family or close friends to apply/enroll due to fear the federal government could/will interfere in personal life.
