Sick notes, and other common third-party requests are a major administrative burden for physicians. That’s why Doctors Manitoba is working with industry and health care partners to eliminate sick notes and streamline third party forms.

Canadians deeply value their health care: in a recent poll, 89% agreed that improving #AccessToCare is a key part of building a stronger country.

As our governments create a more self-reliant country, we must consider Canadian-made solutions to the health care challenges that patients face each day. With Canadian expertise and innovation, we can make this country a leader in health care solutions.

We're pleased that premiers stressed the need for health workers to freely work across the country and we support the need to maintain Canada Health Transfers. In a time when governments are trimming budgets, health care funding cannot be cut when 6.5M Canadians still struggle to access timely care.

Health care employs 3M Canadians and contributes greatly to the economy. With billions of health care dollars spent annually importing medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and tech, governments have an opportunity to use their budgets to support Canadian industry, create jobs and foster innovation.

The CMA has spent the last few days at the premiers’ meetings in Muskoka focused on the important role health care can play to build a stronger, more resilient country. A healthier Canada is a wealthier Canada.
