Study finds more women opted for long-acting IUDs after B.C. made birth control free A new study finds significantly more women opted for long-acting birth control methods after British Columbia made prescription contraception free.

Cost was a major barrier for BC women accessing contraception before BC govt made it free, confirms new research.

Guess what? Cost remains a barrier to accessing many aspects of health care, including mental health services & home & community care. It doesn't have to be this way. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

How do we lead moral lives in an age of bullies? | Robert Reich In my lifetime, I have witnessed a shift from support of decency to tolerance of cruelty. Where do we go from here?

We are living in an age of bullies. Those with power are less constrained today than they have ever been in my lifetime.

The question is: how do we lead moral lives in this era? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jul/28/bullies-moral-lives-robert-reich

A wealth tax could raise half a trillion dollars for a stronger, fairer Canada New report on the effects of wealth inequality, the revenue potential of a wealth tax, counter-arguments and an outline of transformative public investments.

A federal wealth tax could raise half a trillion dollars for Canada.

Extreme wealth concentration is damaging our economy and society. Taxing the super-rich could fund transformative public investments to build a stronger, more resilient Canada.

Thrilled to be in a packed room for the relaunch of the campaign for #10aday child care in BC. Can't think of a better investment we can make as a province than the investment in quality, affordable, public early education & child care. Time for the BC government to step up the efforts.

Want a more resilient Canadian economy? Double down on democratic employee ownership!

Our economy must be better for workers say @1alexhemingway.bsky.social and colleagues.

The economy can be more resilient with more democratic workplaces where workers have more control and federal legislation for Employee Ownership Trusts can help achieve this aim.

Global CEO pay increased by 50 percent since 2019, 56 times more than worker wages Average CEO pay surged by 50 percent in real terms since 2019, while average worker wages increased by just 0.9 percent.

Average global CEO pay has skyrocketed 50% since 2019 to $4.3M.

By contrast, average worker pay has risen just 0.9% over that same time period.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

Displaying sales tax separately = no problem, standard practice in the USA

In the aftermath of the Vancouver massacre, grief alone will not be enough Grief and anger surrounding Saturday’s mass murder in Vancouver question the lack of support and stigma often associated with mental health issues.

"The CMHA reported in 2024 that more than half of people aged 18 to 24 in Canada who had early signs of a mental illness said cost was an obstacle to getting mental health services."
