Breakfast of champions (a Guinness). I love places that wear their years on their sleeves like this, one of my former haunts in grad school.

Do you love bogs and Halloween? If so, please follow and share this thread to explore the eerie, the dark and the supernatural side of bog ecosystems. BogBoo. 1/

The reason 42 million Americans are on SNAP is because employers aren’t paying living wages.

"The Black Vampyre; Legend of St. Domingo" by Uriah Derick D'Arcy written in 1819.

The story of an enslaved man in St Domingo (modern day Haiti) who was thrown overboard as his enslaver attempted to kill him.

He not only survives, he lives forever, and marries one of his enslaver's descendants.

Reminds me of "Sinners" in a way

Wanna hear a scary story?

The first American vampire was Black.

Seriously.

78 years before Dracula appeared in American literature, there was "The Black Vampyre" by Uriah D'Arcy.

It was written in 1819 as an antislavery critique and the effect the Haitian Revolution had on the States

Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.

Extralibrary Loan: Making the Civic Infrastructure We Need Amid a war on public knowledge, libraries are pushing outward, enlarging the commons through new configurations of civic and creative life.

I wrote about public libraries as spaces of civic solidarity, common knowledge, and public infrastructure β€”Β all endangered by commercial and federal saboteurs

I think any story about Trump's autocracy should be mostly about the people and institutions who failed to stop it. This guy isn't a political genius, everything else just happens to be rotten. 'Toddler Consolidates Power In Household' is a story about incompetent parents, not shrewd maneuvering

40% of SNAP recipients are kids, 18% are elderly, 11% are disabled and of the rest, ~70% already have jobs. So unless your company’s hiring Junior Juice Box Interns, grandma and her walker, or knows how to fit more hours in a day, maybe cool it with the β€œjust get a job” takes.
