Yes there is some merit to it in certain cases, which is also why it’s worth studying.

And some folks think 19th-century conceptions of disease are obsolete and not worth study.

Lineage puffing is so bizarre.

Reading a biography that states β€œHis maternal lineage was even more impressive” and like dude, no one deserves CREDIT for being born to their parents…they didn’t choose!

Yes. They are like practicing scales for music or running drills for athletics in that the process has to be there for the benefits to come. But that only works if someone’s goal is to get skills, not credit.

According to PEW, teens in households making under $75K are more likely to use chatbots for help with all or most schoolwork. I read a comment on another platform that said this is amazing news because we are "finally going to close the achievement gap." That is not how I would interpret this data.

For my writing class this term students have to record themselves reading their rough draft out loud and remarking on any changes they plan to make or things they notice while doing so (good or bad).

Made them a sample recording of me reading a draft.

Cringe to hear (for me) but also helpful.

I teach my science students how to write comprehensive literature reviews, so every semester I meet with each of them to help them choose topics narrow enough they can actually do a comprehensive literature review in one semester

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.
