New setup. My Kemper was too far away. I picked this two-shelf unit and it works great. The Kemper will get centered. There’s some mail up there for now.
I need a good mini drive for between the Denton Drive & OCD v1.4. Maybe a Ratsbane.

I bought an interesting #telecaster last night: a 2012 Squier Classic Vibe Custom Telecaster.
• double bound
• matching headstock
Yes, there’s an input jack on the control plate. Yes, the normal one is there too. I’ll be opening it up when I get home from work.
Picture is from the listing
When I bought my (used) Kemper, I swore it was to be supplementary, but I have found myself turning it on instead of either my Maz 18 or PT20v2.
Now I’ve come to terms with the idea that I can let one of those two amps go, w/ the remaining one being my kid’s 1st amp.
This is a hard choice to make.
Why is that now that I'm doing regularly DMing a game of #DnD that I want to sit down and get back into painting my miniatures?
Why is my brain wired like a rat's nest?
Rerecorded a song from Volume Three I've always been unhappy with this weekend, which included rewriting the 3rd guitar part. Now it's just a matter of mixing it.
I also started the sequel to the first novel I wrote & I'm 10 pages in. It includes a high-level recap that I'm getting to be OK with.
Dial Tone was my favorite GI Joe figure. He was the hero of any story I told. Not sure why, but there it is.
14.02.2025 16:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yeah…once 10p CST rolled around, my wife, daughter, and I all kind of asked, “how long is this thing?” at the same time.
Felt like a rollercoaster…too many peaks and valleys rather than a consistent viewing experience.
The bassist in a band playing a song at the Grammys is playing an SX bass. That’s badass.
03.02.2025 02:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I've started writing the sequel to my first novel I completed last year. I've hit my first stumbling block in trying to catch the reader up on the main characters and summarize what happened in the previous book. I'm not discouraged though. I'm actually enjoying trying to how to best approach this.
02.02.2025 20:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0To be honest, I actually thought she'd hit her key fob to cause it to go down. Somehow, the mini Godzilla I keep on my keys activated the button twice.
I'm doing much better now. Headache is still present, but I'm no longer slurring speech or tasting metallic.
Proceeding w/ caution.
That's a great looking guitar. I had the chance to trade into a black Talman like that...a 96 or 97, and I passed. Part of me regrets that decision. It didn't have a Bigsby though...if it had, I'd have been more tempted to pull the trigger.
30.01.2025 04:38 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm pretty certain I have a minor concussion from the tailgate of our SUV coming down on my head. My wife and daughter are saying I'm slurring my speech, I have a pretty good headache, and a metallic taste.
Not too worried, but my wife says if I don't get better, she won't let me go to sleep.
I posted about picking up a beat up 2003 Taylor 410. Here’s the visual tour I made for a friend of mine.
I picked up an Audio Technica AT4050 yesterday and recorded a quick sketch recording in tandem with my pair of Rode NT5s.
I need to do something more formal though. It sounds good to my ears.
Since it's already beat up, I don't feel bad about any wear & tear I add to it, as long as it plays & makes sound. It'll be my "pick up and go" guitar.
I mentioned it's an '03, & 22 is my favorite number, so I took the fact it turns 22 this year as a sign.
Now, I just need to set up the mics.

I had an extra set of Elixirs so I strung it up and oiled the fretboard. It sounded really good, but I'd like to think an almost 22 year old guitar with Elixirs would, right? It's broken in, but just not broken in for me. In time, it will be.
It sounds like a Taylor, which I don't mind.

Traded into a beat up 2003 Taylor 410. I've found that I prefer the sound of a mic'd up acoustic, so no pickup is OK by me.
Previous owner said the original owner toured w/ it & it shows. However, he was upfront about some checking & repairs its had. That's mojo, right?

I’ve started working on a remix/remaster of my Volume 3 album and a handful of singles. I’m feeling really encouraged, music wise, and it feels good to get back behind the wheel and work on music.
25.01.2025 18:23 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Tweaked the bass line for "Corrective Measures" using an Ampeg SVT profile and recorded it. It's sounding good on my monitors, so now comes the Air Pod and Car Stereo test.
If that sounds good, then it will move on to tweaking Ozone & whatever else I throw on the master bus.
I'm excited!
When I talk to our kid about kindness, compassion, & empathy, I talk about it being the right thing to do because it betters those around us.
There’s too much of the “fuck you, I got mine” from some who claim to be “salt of the earth”, but one can’t be that if they poison the world around them
Ate BBQ at the Hutchins BBQ in Trophy Club (no, I don't care about the whole drama behind the name). They have this Texas Twinkie that's a bacon-wrapped jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and brisket. It's a little heavy on the cream cheese (as most versions of this are), but, damn, it's good.
23.01.2025 03:10 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Just had a great conversation about amps with one of the dudes behind Allen Amps.
He raised a point about folks trashing others buying a lower price point tube amp & saying, "That amp's trash. You need to spend X to get something good."
That's hot garbage. Buy what you can afford & enjoy it.
I re-recorded one of my favorite songs I released, “corrective measures”, today using my Kemper. Track has 4 parts, & I used 4 guitars + amp models.
It needs some cleaning up & maybe a redo or two, but I made a couple of changes I’ve been wanting to.
Man, that felt really good to get done!
One of the hardest part of being a parent is letting a kid make a choice (a haircut) you disagree with and have a feeling they will regret. In the grand scheme of things, a) it’s just hair and b) sometimes regret sucks and it’s in their interest to experience that.
20.01.2025 21:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think playing a Kemper has ruined me. It took me a few moments to feel like my two tube amps sounded “normal”. Well, it might likely be the FRFR cab, but still…didn’t expect that.
That’s been an excellent purchase.
I actually prefer the way it sounds more often than not. I’m going to bass hell.
19.01.2025 06:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I was in a band from ‘99-‘00 w/ good friends. I’ve held onto some of the songs from that band, but they’ve changed in significant ways.
In 2025, I plan to record the 6 that survived & 2 that’ve been revived & are going through changes.
I hope to involve the other members in production & writing.🤞
My wife is from STL, well St. Charles at least. We make our way up that way from time to time, but rarely have time to catch any music because we normally have a decently full schedule.
18.01.2025 03:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I’ll be shutting down my IG account & likely Threads.
I’m likely going to keep FB because of the memories feature. However, I will be unfollowing all of the pages I follow and most of the groups I’m a part of.
I’ll start a new account that’s 💯 for buying/selling. Marketplace is a good thing.
I love this. I direct folks to YouTube with uBlock Origin enabled. I’ve organized things by playlists for ease of use too. I’m more worried about folks being able to listen than I am fractions of cents.
