Dear Adam Fletcher, Diablo Series Director, I hope this letter reaches PezRadar. I am an adventurer exploring Sanctuary in D2R. Protecting Sanctuary from the forces of evil is very rewarding. However, there are some truly terrifying creatures in Sanctuary. The most notorious of them is Burning Soul. Burning Soul is a willowisp type monster, and all monsters of this type can drain an adventurer's Mana and attack with lightning. I suspect willowisp is among the most dangerous monsters for adventurers exploring Sanctuary. Even skilled adventurers who have defeated the Diablo brothers on Hell Difficulty fear them. Many adventurers question the excessive danger posed by willowisp. Recently, a brilliant adventurer discovered the root cause. I was shocked by this revelation and wanted to share it with PezRadar. As mentioned earlier, willowisp monsters use Mana Drain and Lightning attacks. According to monstat.txt, the willowisp7 entity has the following attributes: Melee Attack Damage Range: 45 to 115 Projectile: willowisplightning2 Elemental Attack 1: Melee Attack (El1Mode == A1), Mana Drain (El1Type == mana), 90% chance (El1Pct(H) == 90), 200 to 300 damage (El1MinD(H) to El1MaxD(H)) Elemental Attack 2: Skill Cast (El2Mode == SC), Lightning (El2Type == ltng), 100% chance (El2Pct(H) == 100), 5 to 190 damage (El2MinD(H) to El2MaxD(H)) However, when the willowisp7 monster uses Elemental Attack 2, it deals damage from El1MinD(H)/El1MaxD(H) instead of the 5 to 190 damage recorded in El2MinD(H)/El2MaxD(H). This suggests a significant discrepancy in the reported energy output. I believe that both in the real world and in Sanctuary, adventurers should not be harmed by the misuse of important and dangerous resources like electrical energy. However, willowisp type monsters are causing far too much damage by misusing significantly more energy than reported.
