Officials praise Trump as viewers express frustration during press conference
Before taking any questions, Texas's governor Greg Abbott, the homeland security secretary Kristi Noem, the Texas senator John Cornyn and the representative Chip Roy opened today's press conference with long statements of self-congratulation and praise for the response from local, state and federal officials. They also repeatedly thanked Donald Trump in effusive terms.
It was not until reporters pressed for numbers, towards the end of the press conference, that officials began to share the valuable information sought out by the public.
Commenters watching the live feed expressed frustration at the lack of information in the first 25 minutes of the event.
"Quit talking about yourselves relentlessly," one commenter said.
"Most useless conference!!!" another commenter said.
"Get to the point that matters to us the people of texas," another said.
Much of the statements from Abbott, Noem, Cornyn and Roy focused on praising their own efforts, thanking Trump and the White House and encouraging people to pray.
"Prayer matters," Abbott said. Prayers "could have been the reason why water stopped rising".
Later during the press conference, in response to questions from the press, the local sheriff confirmed the number of dead had risen to 32, including 18 adults and 14 children.

“Prayer matters,” Abbott said. Prayers “could have been the reason why water stopped rising”.

What a shameful MAGA debacle of a press conference - a conference supposedly intended to help families desperate for information on the Texas flooding.

To add to this: he won because he not only LISTENED to voters about affordability concerns, he had PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS that weren't bullshit trickle-down economics or pandering to billionaires.

NYC's Upset Election Was Drawn Along An Odd Line: Car Ownership - Jalopnik Car ownership and transit ridership serve as a shorthand for someone's entire living situation — and, apparently, their politics.

This win keeps getting more delicious: Cuomo won car owners, Mamdani won non-car owners. (Real NYers don’t own cars.) www.jalopnik.com/1895759/nyc-...

According to AZ Republic's Nick Piecoro, DBacks star Ketel Marte sobbed on the field tonight after a fan in the crowd at the White Sox stadium yelled something about his mother, who was killed in a car accident 8 years ago. The fan was ejected.

I am once again asking what is wrong with people.

Agreed.

This is the first really big election since Trump took office, and an out-of-nowhere Mamdani win would shake up a LOT of people's understandings of what's going on at the grassroots and how to win going forward.

My grandmother was a young pregnant Jewish woman alone on a train in Poland during WWII when a German soldier told her to get off at the next stop because there wouldn't be any soldiers waiting at the station. She survived because, in that moment, a soldier chose the right thing over obeying orders.

SEN. PADILLA: “Saying I lunged is a lie, but that’s par for the course for this administration… I was behind the cameras listening, and at a certain point hearing Noem say they had to rescue LA from the Governor and Mayor was too much to take. So I raise my voice to ask a question.”
