Year 3 had a fantastic art lesson! They explored shading techniques in their sketchbooks, experimented with HB to 6B pencils, charcoal, and graphite, then wrapped up with some fun drawing activities using 'Art For Kids Hub'. #wpsart #CreativeKids #ArtLesson

Year 5 created stunning, colourful artwork inspired @sallyannefitterartist silver birch trees! They scraped acrylic paint for vibrant backgrounds and explored mark making. The trees were added using the same technique with black & white paint. #wpsart #ArtInspiration #sallyannefitter

Year 6 had their final science lesson today and completed an escape room on circulation along with some rainbow neutralisation reactions #wpsscience

Whole school assembly today on ‘screen safety’ and how we can look after ourselves when using laptops, tablets and other devices with screens. We discussed body and screen positions and taking breaks. Nice to see some children changing screen positions in lesson after break 🤩. #wpspshe #wscomputing

Year 2 became architects! They explored how buildings relate to people and place, drew inspiration from real architects; Hundertwasser, Zaha Hadid and Heatherwick Studios, and used 'Design Through Making' to create their own models. #ArtEd #Architecture #AccessArt #wpsart

Year 1 created colourful mackerel art! Using oil pastels, they designed their own fish based on real mackerel markings, then made vibrant plates using felt pens. A fun and creative one-off project: "Thou Shalt Have a Fishy on a Little Dishy"! #ArtEd #Helloroscreates

Year 3 explored storytelling through sculpture! Inspired by Dirty Beasts they marbled paper with 'Brusho', then used it as a Base for their plasticine characters. Sketchbooks helped them turn words into 3D art, just like artists Rosie Hurley & Inbal Leitner. #ArtEd # StoryThroughArt #AccessArt

Y4 explored how context & presentation shape art. Inspired by artists like Gormley, Shonibare & Price, they looked at how plinths affect how sculpture is seen. They created their own mini galleries by curating found objects as artworks! #ArtEd #Minigalleries #AccessArt #wpsart

Year 2 recreated the moody, expressive illustrations from The Fox by Margaret Wild & Ron Brooks. They used tea-stained paper, charcoal, oil pastels and coloured pencils to bring the story to life! #ArtEd #year2

Year 5 have been looking at prenatal development, their challenge was to make models to show some of their stages. #wpsscience

Y3 Roman workshop- how the Roman army contributed to the expansion of the empire. Learned Latin and practiced marching in formation. Held real Roman artefacts found in Oxfordshire and dressed the part in tunics, armour and togas. #wpshistory

Y4 showed great understanding in our lesson on how life is like a journey in RE. We likened it to driving up Eastfield Lane - sometimes it’s very difficult to get where you want to be, with many obstacles in the way - you need to be prepared, have patience & determination! #wpsre

In DT last week, Year 5 designed and programmed an automatic nightlight which responds automatically to the level of light in the room using our Crumble microcontroller kits, as well as using graphic design software to create a shell structure to encase their circuit . #wpsdt

A number of children have been borrowing hats. We will be stopping this, as sharing hats can increase the risk of spreading headlice.

Year 4 have been making moving toys that use pneumatic power to move objects. We had a huge diversity of projects from moving monsters and tipper trucks to bridges and a crane with a catapult system ! @wpsdt

Year 6 have finished their own moving models using mechanical cam systems. They’ve learned all about cam profiles and different types of followers
