In late stage capitalism the words "Freedom", "Truth", "Patriotism" and "Justice" are used interchangeably to promote fascism.

This is real new speak. Not *not* calling someone a racial slur.

When you hear about a Freedom Act?
Your rights are being taken away.

Truth Network?
All lies.

When they are not at a class level to manipulate and exploit the law, they exploit consumers. The requirement for unlimited growth cannot NOT lead to unethical and criminal activity. It's inherent.

To understand this system is to accept that every company with a board is committing financial crime at the minimum. The bigger the company the more severe the crime - from purposely endangering workers, to endangering the life on the planet. No exceptions to this rule, just good cover-ups.

too many people see video games as products and not as culture

everyone would appreciate games more if they followed who is creating them instead of only following IPs

real life โ€œloreโ€ is infinitely more interesting than fictional lore and it also helps you better understand the fictional lore too

Hey #gamedev!

I'm trying to make an exhaustive list (maybe Steam Curator page?) of PSX-style horror games on Steam that are worth the time. Do you have any recommendations? Recently played No One Lives Under the Lighthouse and Sorry We're Closed and I'm afraid I need more of that.

If you struggling because audiences don't relate to your games, then it's probably not the audience's problem.

The classic sexism + racism combo is always a nice reminder that we have a lot more work to do for this industry to become welcoming and inclusive. I'm sorry that you're so hateful.

Last few years internet search (and especially Google) have become unusable due to the infestations of SEO garbage tactics and AI.

All I am now asking is for a search with block / blacklist button. Maybe a human layer of verification on the listed websites also would be cool.

The opinion of the community should not be called, ever, review bombing. You are simply describing the act of reviewing.

30.10.2024 11:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No review should be vetted based on the amount of hours played - just if the game has been played, which in the case of Steam, this is true.

Users are not reviewers, they have actual lifes and jobs to attend to.

You are describing Steam.

Never seen them featured or anything.

Maybe you could get on the daily deals?

Either way, itch and steam have vastly different audiences, and having a tool available on steam is always a bonus on my book.

Iโ€™m literally dropping every other social for BlueSky.

All I ever wanted was the ability to have themed feeds.

When I want to see art, I see art. When I want to see gamedev content I want to see gamedev.

So. Fucking. Simple.

No more hate, AI trash or engagement farming.

People often ask whatโ€™s the problem with Epic; Itโ€™s the fundamentally unethical approaches to anything gamedev.

A while ago I tried making a cross platform minimal 4X game heavily inspired by Polytopia & Civilization. I'll soon be focusing on adding diplomacy and reworking the visuals, but I'm a bit lost.

Please check it out and tell me your thoughts / ideas! #gamedev #gameart

Well, having custom feeds really help. It's not just the people - when the algorithm itself is based around engagement farming. Any other social is unusable if you want to see updates from your chosen follows - it's just whatever The Company deems baity enough.

That's honestly such a good idea! I'd be very interested in learning more about the flash era, as I didn't exactly live it.

Seems to very relevant today, as we have gone full circle to the similar issues of saturation, discoverability and quantity of quality.

@ozone.birb.house can I have a game dev tag please?

20.10.2024 13:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Anybody can make a game, but if are not willing to pick up some design and programming, it'd be best to group up with some people that have those skills so you can make it together. No budget required really, especially if it doesn't have to pay the bills.

20.10.2024 08:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Hopefully it won't be like that in a few years and you have plenty of time to get it right! Make sure to start networking early and have a portfolio you can showcase and be proud of.

As a recent graduate in #gamedev, this is how it feels like. Recently was declined after 3 months of multiple rounds for a dream position and I'm spiralling since.

So, we were looking into how virtual exhibitions can utilize interactivity to best exhibit interaction. By playing our prototype - free on itch - you can learn about 25 games from the past decade, and experience some of their novel mechanics and aesthetics in the museum's space.

Hello BlueSky! For my first #screenshotsaturday and I wanted to show you my thesis project: Museum.exe. Equal parts virtual exhibition and FPS puzzler, focusing on 2010 - 2020.
Maybe you can find your next game here?
