Had this on my shelf for a while but just flew through it. Brilliant book. I see it's cheap on Amazon too.

Incredible book. One of my faves.

Like alt text but a description of the posters body language and facial expressions.

I really like that last idea. Weird fiction can often point at things profound yet ridiculous simultaneously, the clash of perspectives irreducible to one another, so having one's tongue in one's cheek is a good way to get closer to whatever a truth might be than if it’s placed elsewhere.

A weird fiction story about someone trying to define weird fiction.

I wasn't really familiar with John Cheever but had a copy of his stories sitting on my shelf. I read The Swimmer (obvs) and then randomly, The Scarlet Moving Van. I was a bit surprised these were perfect examples of weird fiction. At least to me. The Swimmer feels like an American Aickman story.

πŸ˜‚ the only hope is that no one seems to want those glasses. There might be a limit πŸ˜…

Maybe I'm just getting old, but none of this feels like progress to me. It'll be a sad day when I can't put something on a USB stick.

Cheers. It's the exact solution I was looking for! Someone else posted the same. Perfect. I can't abide the wireless headphones. I don't want to feed my headphones and put them to bed in a little box. And they're three fiddly things not one, so more for someone like me to lose.

Genius. I never think of these things. It's android but I can get one for that. I was about to buy an old phone just for music πŸ˜… I wanted to use an MP3 player but the one I got only played album tracks alphabetically, not in the correct order... it's unbelievable really.

This is really bugging me. I'm not a responsible or functional enough person to own wireless headphones.

I submitted three stories in Jan, a rare thing for me, and got my first rejection. It was very encouraging though, which is almost as good as an acceptance.

I love them. A sausage roll and their wedges is a great vegan lunch when out.

So sorry 😞 That's tragic to lose Billy so young. Horrible time to have to face those huge vet bills.

It's hard not to be convinced. Despite the four plates of food. My previous cats had an almost zen like attitude to food, eating only the precise amount they needed. These two would never stop given the choice.

A black and white cat in a vet carrier with its paws up against the mesh as if she's languishing in prison. Her sister, another black and cat, is poking her head into shot and looking at the camera. It is uncertain if she is complicit.

Had to get a new phone and apparently it was incorrect to assume it would have a headphone jack.

Only a few days left to submit your short story to our anthology.

We are seeking short stories for our upcoming anthology, Modern Decadent, which embraces the fin de siècle literary and arts of the decadents, along with 19th century symbolism & aestheticism.

Me reading fiction: why are you explaining anything to me? Leave this open to interpretation. Less is more. Productive ambiguity. Never hold my hand.

Me reading nonfiction: where is your thesis? Structure this argument more. What is your evidence for this?! Make this connection explicit. Cite more.

Connecting via the vague whispers of another's dream passing in the night... And yes, I don't trust the verification stuff. My general level of suspicion about these things has never dwindled. The Slack group is no more I'm afraid 😒 I'm not sure I've got your email, I'll it off Caroline
