For ages the balance was this- wizards makes cards for Magic the Gathering. Commander, a fan generated format, chooses how to use them and which cards to use. The problem started when wizards began making cards for *Commander* instead of for Magic the Gathering.

It could be that WOTC has been pushing internally for hybrid to matter across all formats, but primarily Commander. I think youβre also correct on then opening the floodgates to what matters anymore. excellent video!
27.10.2025 15:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0you are 100% on the right train of thought here. WOTC (Hasbro) is obv profit driven so it makes sense for them to plant the seed of allowing hybrid in order for players to get excited for something new (i.e. UB: ATLA and UW: ECL) to ensure sales for future sets.
