An adult chimpanzee from the chimpanzee group we hiked to in Kibale National Park, Uganda. It paused in the forest to briefly connect with us before finding a place to rest. The whole chimpanzee visit was such an awesome experience. 2/18/25

Tracking and hiking to chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, Uganda, was one of the highlights of the trip. The chimps were very peaceful when we found them, giving us lots of opportunities for contemplative photos. Thanks to @safarisupportafrica for guiding us there. 2/18/25

The situation gets tense when the pride’s male lion shows up in the morning at the kill to eat. Fortunately for them they took down a hippo somehow, so plenty to eat for all. We witnessed this scene early on safari to the Masai Mara, Kenya last month. 2/7/25

We were fortunate to see this epic scene play out in the Masai Mara a couple weeks ago. This frequent occurrence is part of a healthy natural system where life is sustained. Thanks to @jameslenjir from @oltepesi_tented_safari_camp for placing us in the right place at the right time. 2/11/25

This northern pygmy owl had been hanging around lately. I heard its mate today, so I hope they stay around through the spring. Nice to know they are around. 1/24/25, Crestone, CO.

Great gray owls dive down from their hunting perches to catch voles in the tall grasses or under snow. It could be anyone’s guess which way they’ll hunt, but this time I got it right. I spent a week in Minnesota to try to showcase this amazing behavior through my camera. 12/31/24

Back home and up to Colorado’s high country on a cold and windy morning. This white-tailed ptarmigan faired better on the alpine tundra than I did but I managed to get a few photos when the sun peaked out. 1/9/25
