We're good. Worked my side gig on the first two weeks of the furlough. Got a solid paycheck from that prior to being made "excepted" and having to go in to work non pay.
In reality we could last a very very long time and not fall behind on bills/mortgage. Spirits otherwise are good too.

Served on three unrep ships. 1 USS, and 2 USNS. Awesome memories. Westpac, I.O., Med & Persian Gulf.

Not sure I'd call it neglect, it's more a case of priorities. Chipping rust, priming and painting on the hull is done at the dock. These ships enjoy such moments but they are on a much lower priority than being at sea to support a carrier strike group.

That is all I will be calling the fiasco from now on.

Context please. This is one of the U.S. Navy's civilian manned Military Sealift Command replenishment ships which often experience a higher operational tempo than those manned by active duty sailors. These ships often have very short upkeep periods & deploy with only essential crew.
