The theory is the publishers do lots of work behind the scenes, particularly marketing.

Some of the worst offenders are University presses, who still do editing etc, but then publish your book in hardback at £120!

How best to effectively market a self-published book, particularly general fiction?

and the genAI has no idea how much is true either!

They look for patterns. I suspect they would be a bit better if they had a mechanism for tagging their plagiarised training input as true/false, fact/fiction

By 'hovels' I was thinking of the wooden/thatched constructions that tended to be in the courtyard. Wasn't sure if the low-status servants were restricted to those.

A couple of questions.

1) Are there any examples of a single structure containing both clockwise & anti-clockwise staircases?

2) If spiral staircases were for the posh folk, how did the servants move between floors in their bits of the castle? Or did they do all their work in hovels in the yard?

But, as a majority of the 'jury' in any impeachment proceedings are also traitors, and so will not convict, just another demonstration of how the US Constitution and structure is a paper tiger, not fit for purpose. USA is a failed state.

No. Not the same concept. The reworded version says 'shall' - meaning VP and all civil officers are automatically removed on conviction of the President. The actual constitution says they may all, individually, also face impeachment proceedings. Very different.

G K Chesterton (I think) said "If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing badly" - basically better to try and fail than not to try at all.

Good point. And taking it a step further, if they didn't actually vote for the government, are they responsible for it? If we believe the government is morally and legally wrong, do we have a civic duty to march on Downing St with scythes, pitchforks, blazing torches and coils of rope?

It does sound like, even within the limits of "Limited Liability", that lengthy jail sentences are a feature of these people's future. Whether the authors can sue them as individuals? Dunno.

and 100 years ago most adult women couldn't vote either. Or people aged 16-20.

I'm curious. What sort of LLM genAI model could produce this crap? "Was the prompt "produce a map of England and Wales with completely made up county boundaries and randomly generated names"?

ah yes, but only if your constitution is properly written. We have a current example where a president can become an absolute monarch for life, because their constitution doesn't allow for his removal (in any realistic sense)

So, does using a cruise missile with a conventional warhead but which scatters radioactive debris from its reactor over a large area count as a nuclear weapon? And justify appropriate retaliation?*

Does "condemn" goes as far as introducing complete economic sanctions for all Israeli individuals entities?

Have they been using chatGPI as a calculator again?

But, tbf, even people with excellent numeracy skills can get it wrong when they're on autopilot. I mind ploughing through a sheet of calculations for my Astronomy BSc & pausing when I realised I'd just used a very expensive calculator to do 2 + 2

A wider range of T-shirt designs please. I'd love "Injustice is not inevitable" in large print on a T shirt, with GoodLaw logo.

But at least with option 2 your boss also gets sacked shortly afterwards when THEIR boss discovers that you can't be replaced by genAI.

I think it's a bit optimistic that GACH duine ar líne should use Gaeilge - but at least everyone that speaks it should use some.

I'm about the same. Late 1700s every one was Wales, W.England or Ireland. Mainly quarrymen, farmers, tailors, weavers - the usual. No obvious exploiting bastards, but who knows? Maybe there was a WW2 black marketeer ripping off his neighbours who I should acknowledge. There was a Cornish exciseman!

I suspect the parents also locked them in a cupboard under the stairs until they were 21 and refused to let them go to school.

And do you acknowledge the colonial crimes committed by your distant ancestors? If so, which ones?

And have the descendants of those Angles/Saxons/Jutes/Danes/Vikings acknowledged the evil actions of their ancestors? No - they rejoice in being 'English' & continue their colonising of the earlier inhabitants of these islands who they oppressed

Is there a statute of limitations on ancestral crime?

Why is it that everyone talks about reparations for slavery, but no-one ever mentions reparations from the Anglo-Saxon/Danish/Viking colonists who invaded, killed, enslaved, seized land and much more? Or the Romans? What did they ever do for us apart from invading us and slaughtering our Druids?

Merely pointing out that Inner London is already generating very large levels of income which it can use to pay for council spending. 'The City' bit reflects that the City generates vast amounts of money while providing very few jobs. It really needs to be more heavily taxed anyway.

Guardian: "Israel's Gaza City plan sparks global condemnation" ... and much rubbing of hands and cheering in global governments and businesses at the thought of the hundreds of billions of dollars they can all make from it.
