See, on paper you could ask that theoretical question. But the reality that many just chose to ignore is that in this country right now there are only two doors. That’s it. And if you try to go through hypothetical door 3, you’re really just helping one of the first two, usually the worse of them.

I literally was almost fired two weeks into this job for refusing to do something due safety concerns. When I filed a claim with Sedgwick, I was basically told that they won't bother unless I can actually prove the decision has killed somebody.

The ethics hotline is useless, basically is an extension of corporate. If we call in we're basically told "do what they tell you, or be written up for insubordination." What happens when the entire structures built around us for our protection turn out to be predicated on people not being desperate?

Actually, that happens, a lot. As a pharmtech, we are often told "just do it, or be written up for insubordination" which is an instant termination. Most of us suspect we're hurting our patients, but we're scared and don't want to be fired.

Told to do terrible shit they know not to do, AND then apparently told by the ethics hotline to do it anyway.

But does the UCMJ identify WHO has the authority to permit law enforcement activities? If the president authorizes it with "shoot on sight" permissions, does it really matter if they're not supposed to target or intentionally harm civilians? The wording here is vague and contradictory.

Part of what allows dictators to take over countries is they let the military off the leash. When do we accept the reality that most of the military genuinely likes Trump MORE than they care about the US Constitution? If they fired on 'Nam protestors in 1970 with impunity, they will do so again now.

Also how do we know the lowest-ranked enlisted will not simply shoot anyway when given the order for no other reason than because they like Trump? We have to consider the very real likelihood that they will recognize an illegal order and choose to follow it anyway.

I once managed a new computer dept in a hospital Way Way Back. A data entry clerk in Admissions put in the Religion field: "Ass of God" as the abbreviation for Assembly of God.

Science PSA: Never abbreviate “analysis” as “anal”. Ever.

Medical: Please don’t abbreviate “Follow Up Check” as FU/CK.
