I will always stick to that the first patch of SL was some of the best content we've gotten. I -loved- it. (I am also a big fan of borrowed powers and having something to endlessly grind in general.)

...Then everything else happened and the expac went down the gutter 😭

This has been an issue for me with literally every lead character since post-SL. theyre all the same 😭 there's times where they manage unique chars like bwomsandi, denathrius, wrathion etc but its so rare nowadays

The initial SL and even some of the post-SL story is the last time this game actually did characterization well, in my opinion. People felt like people, not like interchangeable lawful good characters. They're fixing it starting 11.1 and especially in 11.2, but it's still not the same imo.

Honestly? I think SL's launch patch was one of the best patches I played - tied as my fave with 8.3. SL had a lot of issues, and I think they stemmed from everything that came post-launch - the content drought specifically. I think everything since has been worse, even if I still enjoyed DF myself.

It not being effective is the weirdest part. Looks like an ultimate ability and hits like a wet noodle 😭

Dalaran was kinda used as a shock moment with no real conclusion, and we're at the same point at the end of TWW as we were at the start of TWW - hunting Xal and the Dark Heart. It just feels very filler, and I personally felt more invested in DF than TWW at this stage because of the primal aspects.

I feel like this is just a writing issue in general, not low-stakes or high-stakes, because I think the player investment isn't really higher in TWW. I've seen more people disinterested in the story in TWW than in DF personally, including myself.

The stakes in TWW have felt incredibly rushed ->

Yeah, it fully depends on the circles you surround yourself with. I RP in Duskwood and there it's kinda free-for-all - basically Stormwind RP but with conflict xD I absolutely loved the faction conflict there.

There's a good amount of faction conflict enjoyers I'd never associate with too tho lol
