Successful first test of new laser heating system, 13IDD DAC by GSE scientists Vitali Prakapenka and Stella Chariton. To take full advantage of the APS-U, we initiated the process of technical developments for the DAC beamlines at GSECARS.

GSE Beamline Scientist Vitali Prakapenka was invited to Northern Illinois University to speak at a colloquium series organized by the Department of Earth, Atmosphere & Environment. Hosted by S. Autrey and M. Frank, with the title "Advanced Tools for Mineral Characterization at Extreme Conditions."

GSE scientific staff Tony Yu, Yanbin Wang, and Young Jay Ryu conduct an experiment at Soleil on the high-temperature density experiment on wollastonite and albite. Dr. Eva Pereiro, Soleil Science Director, visited the group to discuss the work and the potential applications of the findings.
