The world is definitely going through a phase where the biggest douchebags among us are getting their day in the sun. Good for them.

Mystic Mog is the alter ego of an aging old-school gamer. He loves animals, trains, AFC Wimbledon, and playing RPGs like it’s 1982. Originally from the Southwest London, he now lives in rural Missouri, USA | Author of The McHack TTRPG:

Thank you!
Rookie question:
I bought pdfs of 0D&D from DTRPG hoping to print them for personal use through Lulu.com. I found the pdfs are encrypted and Lulu won’t allow me to print them.
Is there a legal way to get physical 0D&D books (besides spending $2,000 on originals)? Thanks

For those who might be interested my lite B/X-adjacent ruleset is available on @drivethrurpg.com for $1 per pdf. Just search “McHack”.
One day I’ll figure out the POD function on DriveThru, but I printed these bad boys off of Lulu (A5 size).

A great dungeon and an excellent appraisal. Nicely done!

26.11.2025 13:53 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thanks! It seems to be working well. The players usually gravitate to their favorite PCs, but it does give us the freedom to be flexible whoever turns up.
26.11.2025 02:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I’m currently running a campaign where the PCs usually end up back at base each week. So we just go adventuring with whoever is there. Also, we have a pool of PCs rather than each person having their own, with agreement anyone can take any PC. Wanna make sure your favorite doesn’t die? Turn up ;)

What a great fucking campaign that was!

You can buy The McHack on #DriveThruRPG for a single US$, just search “McHack”.

Yes! Well said, Carl! It’s great knowing that those books were well-used and yet still survived to be passed on to me. I sadly lost all my 70s and 80s RPGs over a number of moves, and I’m enjoying gathering pieces I loved and lost down the years. Cheers!

Well, this little set has “seen some action”, as they say, but a very welcome addition to my #OSR #RPG collection: 2nd edition of Marc Miller’s terrific sci-fi game #Traveller!
I loved playing this as a teenager in the 80’s, but wished I’d played more. Looking forward to diving back in.
Most people have an Internal Monologue. The Mog, however, has always had an Internal Theme Tune: Raiders of the Lost Arc. It’s pretty sick, and responsible for my unshakable self esteem.
As sick as that is, I always secretly wished it was the theme to Battle of the Planets. [sigh]

I’ve never played RuneQuest but I know it has a fanatical following. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to try it one day.
27.10.2025 15:09 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, as much as I loved D&D, it was kind of shocking to see how well a game could be designed! I wish we’d played more Traveller as kids, but most wanted to play AD&D so that’s what is ran.
Still got a real soft spot for B/X though, dispute all its quirks :)
Couldn’t agree more! Just an absolute classic.
27.10.2025 13:53 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Agreed! Page-for-page it’s such a well-designed game: logical, clear, simple (without ever being simplistic, somehow). It’s such a well-designed and thoughtfully compiled game.

27.10.2025 13:30 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oooh, thank for sharing! I’ll enjoy watching that. So glad he is doing well. I always felt Traveller should get more recognition. It is such a smart, well-designed game. I wish I’d played it more as a kid, but very much looking forward o rediscovering it now. Cheers!

#TravellerRPG By Marc Milker. I bought this POD version from @drivethrurpg.com while I wait for the vintage Little Black Books to arrive from @nobleknightgames.bsky.social
Cannot wait to get back into this game!

18.10.2025 14:04 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0My Lords, Ladies, #OSR Friends, can anyone recommend a good random dungeon generator for solo play, apart from the 1e DMG?
I heard several folk mention one for #OSE, yet I cannot find it. I have the Referee’s Tome and Player’s Tome, but no luck.
Humbly,
Mog, The Mystic.
“Lovecraft crazy” is officially now a thing. You made it happen, James, and we all thank you for that.
