Maaybe. Gunilla Wolde was Swedish though. Her most famous books are the Totte and Emma series.

You can now visualize how a color palette distributes across OKHsv, OKHsl, OKLCh and CIELab, and compare 6 distance metrics side by side. Zero dependencies, raw WebGL2.

Took me 3 years to make something I wasn't too embarrassed to share 🙃

There's another style which was everywhere, where the noses of all people are drawn like this, but can't for the life of me find a real example now

These are definitely regionally distinct because this style is not really familiar in Scandinavia. We used to have stuff like this

Keski-ikäiset miehet pelottavat nuoria kaupunkien keskustoissa, sanoo tutkija – Kuopion nuoret löysivät uuden paikan Kuopion keskustan uusi nuorisokeskus on löytänyt nopeasti kävijänsä.

[..] Tytöt kertovat kohtaavansa jatkuvasti vanhempien miesten ahdistelua ja seksuaalista häirintää kaupungilla."

Qobuzposting continues: it is wonderful that they lift music press picks in the app *and* totally mix up classical, pop, jazz releases. This is the way.

The Adventures of Tintin - Wikipedia

Hadn’t clocked that 12 of the 23 Tintin albums (24 if counting the unfinished Tintin and Alph-Art) were published before the end of WWII.

Red Rackham’s Treasure was published in 1943. The 13th, Tintin and the Seven Crystal Balls in 1948.

This does contextualize the unavoidable racism as well.

YES! After a few hours searching, I finally dug up a high-quality scan of the first (known) color choropleth. From haab-digital.klassik-stiftung.de/viewer/fulls...

Thanks to @datavisfriendly.bsky.social & @infowetrust.com who helped with the search.

The capabilities frontier is spiky so I wouldn’t claim that this is universally true for all domains, for all languages, for all tasks. But, for example, for writing code that does data science using R and SQL, which is kinda niche, it used to be unhelpful to me and now it’s not.

Absolutely this. My brother is a surgeon; he's used Claude to write an app for his patients. It's not a masterpiece and it won't change the economy, but it is easier for them than trying to fill in timesheets of how much exercise they are able to take. Sensible scepticism has to recognise reality.

2. I believe that this style of thinking and interaction is both stupid and doomed. It doesn't accurately describe what LLMs are capable of these days, and it demands that people ignore the evidence before their eyes. If you are a programmer, you know Claude can code, and sometimes it can code well.

The second panel, labeled "inappropriate", depicts a far side cow leaning around the edge of the same cubicle and speaking with a word bubble which contains only the shapes of the 4 cow tools. The woman fearfully picks up the
