It’s impossible to avoid the conclusion that large parts of Westminster remaining on X - a platform that tolerates and amplifies extremism and racism - has led a great many people to normalise what previously was unacceptable.

Quelling public disquiet worth extra cost of housing refugees in barracks, says No 10 Government defends prospect of paying more than for hotel accommodation

So warehousing people seeking safety in conditions shown to cause more people to take their own lives, more mental and physical health issues etc, at greater cost, is better than confronting racist and xenophobic misinformation? Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying.

Inside the Trump family’s global crypto cash machine The U.S. president’s family raked in more than $800 million from sales of crypto assets in the first half of 2025 alone, a Reuters examination found, on top of potentially billions more in unrealized β€œon paper” gains. Much of that cash came from foreign sources as Donald Trump's sons touted their business on an international investor roadshow.

Trump Org’s income in the first half of 2024 was $51 million.

In the first half of 2025 it rose to $864 million.

A massive percentage came from foreigners.

It should be the biggest scandal in the history of American politics.

But few even care. www.reuters.com/investigatio...

Trump Empowers Election Deniers, Still Fixated on 2020 Grievances

Re DHS point person on β€œelection integrity”:

β€œElection officials from nearly all 50 states gathered on a call last month…eager to hear how the woman filling a newly created Trump administration position might help safeguard the vote ahead of next year’s midterms. But many of them left alarmed.”

Britain is in a really, really dark place.

It also shows that once you start deporting people, you very quickly get to this place

Unlike Trump, Andrew Neil is not a stupid man so it’s very unlikely he doesn’t accept the science behind climate change. Presumably he just doesn’t care because he thinks he won’t be around to see the worse of it

This is essentially the end, at least for now, of the US government as a credible source of health information.

That’s bad in any circumstances, but…if we get hit with another pandemic in the near future, god help us all.

The daily outrages naturally occupy our attention, but keep in mind that the overall objective of the Trumpists and their allies elsewhere in the world is to erase every Enlightenment principle and ideal, and every bit of social and political progress based on them in the last few hundred years.

I would love to be part of the conversation on MSNBC related to the Kimmel story and it's chilling effects on first amendment, but unfortunately I was terminated by MSNBC for stating that "hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which lead to hateful actions".

Opinion | The real enemy of democracy sneaked up on me I used to be a cautious optimist, but social media has changed our politics for the worse.

β€œwe thought the companies that owned these platforms would care about the country and their impact on it. They don’t. They actively promote conflict and conspiracy and anesthetizing nonsense β€” because those things promote engagement, and engagement equals money.”

I warned last October that if Donald Trump returned to the White House, the fate of the free press would depend on the willingness of corporate media executives to fight for it.

What the UK government should do:
-> disable X in the UK
-> sue Musk
-> make his companies' life in UK a living hell
-> crack down on Robinson and his thugs

What the UK government will do:
-> "yes, we are aware of the valid citizen concerns"
-> more xenophobic crap
-> stay on X and do nothing

Far right protest today:
29 - police officers injured
9 - protestors arrested

Proscribed group protests:
0 - police officers injured
1,600 - protestors arrested
