Every time I come across this photo it completely stops me in my tracks. Crude oil supertanker Esso Hibernia under construction at Swan Hunter shipyard, Wallsend, during 1970. The scale and spectacle of this thing is incomprehensible. (📸 Harriet Berney)

Atleti were very lucky to be awarded that goal, Griezman is 💯 interfering with play(obstructing Ali's view of the shot) it's was strange VAR did not intervene. If Griezman would have touched it, it would have been called offside too.

Yes they can (and do try to do this during the game) but if they don't co-ordinate it well, they can leave a lot of space behind them, that the attacking team can easy run into with a ball over the top of them. Good teams can really exploit that type of defending if they over use it

Offside the hardest rule to get used too. Just keep in mind there has to be at least 2 defenders between the furthest most attacker and the goal when the ball is played. (Designed to stop players just waiting by the goal for the ball to be passed to them)

His play across all those areas was better in this game, he is finding his feet well in a team that play very differently to his old team, we play 433, Leverkusen play 343, he now has more 'defensive' duties, he is so good he's a 'step' ahead mentally, but he was more on their wavelengths yesterday

He's moving between the lines ( the two banks/lines of Atleti defenders) trying to find space or pull defenders out of position for another Red to run into. Don't think too deep, watch and admire, it will become more obvious the more you watch

Just admire the strength skill and poise of Salah to hold off 3 defenders and still put it past the keeper....Frimpong would only be offside if the ball was played to him and he touches it or he was adjudged to be interfering with play. Just like our press, we adopt positions when attacking.

He's finding his feet nicely, great balance, never stops moving, two steps ahead of everyone but starting to slow it so others can be on his wavelength. A great team leverages all the individual players in it, 5 wins out of 5 and he's played every game. Can't ask for a better start than that.
