Batsheva is holding open calls for their resident Ensemble 25/26 Season while they continue to receive funding from the genocidal, apartheid Israeli government.
Internationally-facing art funded by the Israeli state carries obligations to represent the state and its policies positively, even as that includes the murder, torture, and displacement of thousands of Palestinians. In fact, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes Batsheva as “the best known global ambassador of Israeli culture. You cannot dance for Batsheva apolitically. By auditioning for the company, participating in company-led workshops or classes, and attending performances, you are engaging in “artwashing” and normalizing genocide. This is considered a direct violation of the call from the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) National Committee and the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI).
Do not cross the picket line. We dance for liberation, not for genocide.
