like no further deeper analysis of WHY girls might feel alienated from each other either. no analysis of the pressure to BE feminine and BE "other girls" and the feelings of inadequacy that some people might be expressing. JUST chastising them. it's a completely lackluster analysis.

gender conforming women are never asked to sympathize with someone who doesn't relate to their gender expression. and the girl who feels alienated is ALWAYS asked to apologize, assumed to be a bully, assumed to be malicious and looking for male attention. etc. it drives me crazy

like that saying you're "not like other girls" is FOR MEN. also. that the ONLY analysis of this repeated in like 3 separate video essays on the subject. is that it is a feeling that inherently comes from misogyny, gender conforming women are the real victims, and that's that.

sorry it really kills me genuinely truly really that expressing a desire to be less feminine or not relating to "other girls" has been seen constantly, and without redemption, as a hatred toward women or femininity. that every analysis of the behavior sees this as something to be "unlearned"

i saw smile in theater and there was like a 10 yr old kid there and at the end he was like "was that movie supposed to be scary?" but i recognize the anxious energy with which he said it i know his week was ruined

i still unironically really like how trolls looked i think it is one of my favorite 3D animated movies aesthetically

a lot of disney movies are about spectacle and 3D animation allows for a lot of spectacle (glowing creatures and shiny water) that you can't pull off in 2D animation very easily

this isn't about my personal taste either. i strongly prefer flat colors and 2D drawings. i love how that looks. i'm just thinking from the perspective of the average person

there's no dynamic lighting. the characters look really really flat. it's so "lacking" compared to modern animated movies. and i'm not trying to insult it personally im trying to like think from the perspective of CEOs or the general public. the little mermaid would feel lackluster today

like i was watching the little mermaid and it feels difficult to imagine something that looks like that coming out in theaters now, or even in the last ten years. it doesn't feel "cutting edge" which i feel like is what a lot of big budget movies are about now

i'm struggling to see how it is a hand and i'd love to be in on the optical illusion if you could explain. no worries if not

i feel like it's interesting to think about 2D animation also as showing off technology in the same way 3D animation does now. like showing off the technology of film and stuff. idk. and i guess 2D animation is too accessible so it doesn't feel "cutting edge cinematic" the way 3D does
