After the M23 armed group came to Goma in late January 2025, they were re-displaced and are still unable to go home.
Despite the school suffering extensive damage during the war, the classrooms continue to host children attending school during the day, and displaced families at night.

I met nine year old Tuyisabe and his baby niece Julienne at a school sheltering displaced families in the town of Sake in North Kivu, DRC.
Tuyisabe and his family fled the war more than two years ago and until recently lived in the Bulengo IDP camp on the outskirts of the city of Goma.
