"Let's be blunt. Let's be brutally honest with ourselves. When you lose an election in a democracy, you deserve to. You don't look at the electorate and ask them, what were you thinking? You look at yourself and ask, what were we doing?"

Keir Starmer's attempt to paint the Greens as extremists yet again reveals his intolerance of political difference. His instincts are illiberal and authoritarian.

"It is the political approach of the Prime Minister, his former chief of staff, and of Labour Together, which has cost Labour this safe seat".

So glad to see this happen.

This is a massive scandal.

Labour has invented a made-up tactical vote organisation to trick Gorton and Denton into voting for them.

How can this even be legal?

The Labour Party seem happy to lie and deceive voters in order to win the Gorton and Denton by election.

They currently have an effective working majority of 168 😐

In Gorton and Denton, vote for Hannah Spencer & the Greens.

There is only one way we will defeat Reform: by working together.

ITVs John Irvine went into Gaza with the IDF

He tells viewers the peace is imperfect (no mention of the 600+ Palestinians killed by Israel & the near daily attacks by the IDF) & the IDF remains "alert", implying its Palestinians who are responsible

The role of Musk's X in the 2020s is remarkably similar to that of Rothermere's Daily Mail in the 1920s and 1930s. It pushed a narrative which claimed we were being "swamped" by "aliens" (mostly meaning Jews), undermining British interests and values, threatening "our" women and children ...

This clip is all over the other place and has made its way onto GB News and Talk TV so I’ll do a bit of an explainer here too!

The clip doing the rounds is of a fantastic police officer telling a group of Muslim men that a Christian preacher nearby is entitled to freedom of expression.

Sorry but if a political org - run by a now Minister - hires private intel to smear journalists then takes these baseless smears to security services, I will investigate it.

And keep investigating until accountability happens

Watching the livestreams of the fascist march in manchester today and it's pretty disgusting. The greater manchester police have pretty routinely facilitated these fuckers in feeling emboldened for months, targeting asylum hotels in the wider area.

Today they're here in numbers to press forward.

The photo shows four images of the same Roman iron stylus (pen) one below the other, with knib to the left. This stylus is octagonal in shape, with an inscription dot-punched along its length on four alternate sides. The stylus is 132 mm long and 5 mm thick, and the letters are circa 2 mm high. The four images of the pen show the four lines of inscribed text (highlighted) which read:

β€˜ab urbe v[e]n[i] munus tibi gratum adf(e)ro
acul[eat]um ut habe[a]s memor[ia]m nostra(m)
rogo si fortuna dar[e]t quo possem
largius ut longa via ceu sacculus est (v)acuus’

Translated as

β€˜I have come from the City. I bring you a welcome gift
with a sharp point that you may remember me.
I ask, if fortune allowed, that I might be able (to give)
as generously as the way is long (and) as my purse is empty.’

This inscription is generally interpreted by scholars as a humorous, tongue-in-cheek acknowledgment by the giver of the cheapness of the gift.

The pen was used to write on wax-filled wooden writing tablets. Found in London (Roman β€˜Londinium’) by MOLA, during excavations for Bloomberg’s European Headquarters in 2010–2014 . Photo by Juan Jose Fuldain for MOLA

Timeless humour!

A 2,000 year-old Roman souvenir pen with a joke inscription roughly equivalent to:

β€œI went to Rome and all I got you was this cheap pen!" πŸ˜‚

Dated circa 70 AD, this iron stylus pen was recovered in London during excavations by MOLA. πŸ“· Juan Jose Fuldain/MOLA
