I just really want to like it because it has so many other cool elements. It feels like it could've been an excellent setting for something similar to SS1 or Prey 2017.

yeah, Marathon is absolutely leaning towards the hunt/tarkov rather than arc raiders. It's a shoot first harder type of game. Which is kinda eh. Not as harsh as the hunt which I rate the worst of these games for that but it's pretty rough. Feels borderline unrewarding.

Now that is a hot take lol. Like you can say it has some similar sci fi modular ad hoc constructive elements etc but generic it absolutely is not... I've never seen a game do plastic so well.

I think the comedic style of some of these shows sometimes comes across as condescending to me rather than insightful or funny.

Smiling Friends was a weirdly polarizing show for me. There was a lot of stuff I liked but the occasional thing I REALLY hated. Felt like it had an opinionated view under it's surface it was constantly sugar coating.

Stuff like this does sort of make me wonder how I compare to most users. I very rarely "vibe watch" youtube. I normally just want clean access to new vids from the people I follow.

Honestly, it really doesn't feel like Halo or Classic Marathon imo but I haven't played either of those in a long time. It's probably closer to Destiny but even then. It's slow but doesn't have halo's floaty feel. Kills are also really fast. Shields don't tank much.

I do still think the absolute worst part of these games is the exfil. The stand in this little area for 20-30 seconds just to leave feels so bad and forced.

Yeah, thinking not a buy for me because of how harsh it is. Maybe at some point but these games are so ride or die, there's no telling what'll happen to it a few months from now. Really unique game but be prepared to get your teeth kicked in.

It feels more in line with like a much slower paced Apex. As far as I can tell most people are just shoot on sight compared with arc raiders which is almost a relief? The tight corridors and map though make it so there's not much room to exfil without encounters which is very harsh.

Played a few rounds of Marathon and I am honestly surprised how much I am digging it. Definitely pretty harsh and not as varies as Arc Raiders. Like I'd recommend that game over it to most people but it definitely has its own thing going for it.
