It’s almost like it was never about building a “community commons for all” (which the library will totally do if/when they’re in control of the space.)

From now through Sunday, you can vote at any early voting location: The Malletts Creek, Westgate, & Traverwood libraries, & City Hall. If you’re not registered to vote, you can register at City Hall & then vote immediately, including on Election Day.
30.07.2025 13:41 — 👍 24 🔁 10 💬 0 📌 0A slide from a powerpoint presentation that reads: Potential Ann Arbor Public Library Engagement • The Ann Arbor Public Library is potentially a central player in the evolution of an Ann Arbor Commons. This is often the case in Commons-‐driven cities. • Public Libraries are arguably a Commons in their own right and in some ways a prototype for Commoning. • The current leadership of the Ann Arbor Public library is extremely well regarded and visionary. It could and should play a leading role in the Ann Arbor Commons.
most striking in this wild Library Green Conservancy proposal is to see their characterization of the AADL when they wanted something from AADL versus now, when LGC supporters are accusing its leadership of a fraud against the people without any evidence #a2council

Okay, Ann Arbor, who did this for their #SummerGame code?! Crying laughing and my kids don’t understand why.

17.07.2025 17:38 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I’d argue it’s not about winning the lawsuit; this was done on purpose in the 11th hour bc they know they’re losing.
Hope it backfires and people see it for what it is: a craven abuse of the legal system and courts to grab headlines, sow doubt, and perpetuate the rampant misinformation.
“‘I don’t care how much you love working people. They can’t afford a house because all the rules in your state make it prohibitive to build. And zoning prevents multifamily because of NIMBY,’ [Obama] said…‘I don’t want to know your ideology, because you can’t build anything. It does not matter.’”

And I don’t like dredging up past bad behavior of the Library Green Conservancy and their allies/ would much prefer to just talk about AADL’s vision for a new better library space, but these lies from the NO side keep spreading like wildfire!
They definitely don’t know! Nextdoor and neighborhood listservs were a mistake. Just got told every talking point of the No on A&B crowd, including that the mayor BLOCKED funding for the people’s park and the new library would be smaller by people I have to see at regularly at kid’s school stuff.

03.07.2025 20:45 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0But the organizers were excited about working with the AADL back in 2018-2019, as shown in this slide from their Council of the Commons with Blockchain deck. I’m SO frustrated by the STR misunderstanding, especially bc I was advocating for limits on STRs when they passed in 2020 and took heat for it.
Maybe it was a mistake to even allow the few already established full time STRs to remain bc now people don’t understand there are limits. #a2council
