Intramolecular Fluoroacylation Enabled by TrBF4-Catalyzed Fluoride Recycling Alkyne- and alkene-tethered acyl fluorides undergo intramolecular carbofluorination via fluoride recycling using catalytic TrBF4. Excellent stereoselectivity is observed for the alkyne addition, enabling access to novel fluorinated indan-2-ones (all ≥95:5 E/Z) and cyclopentan-2-ones (85:15 E/Z). Fluorinated chroman-2-ones and tertiary alkyl fluorides can also be synthesized using this method, comparing favorably to previously reported protocols that employ expensive metal catalysts under harsher conditions.

Took this last night. Best of friends. We got our tortie Mocha 2 months ago and she’s finally getting along with Maple and not screaming all night.

Something about traveling with a poster tube is so embarrassing. Like yes, hello I am an adult on my way to a very important science fair.

Outside the lab I like cooking, designing (and testing) cocktails, trying restaurants and breweries around the city and hanging out with my fiancé and our cats. Looking forward to meeting people here and reconnecting with long lost twitter friends 🤓

Alright I guess it’s time to get involved! I’m Dusty, a Canadian chemist at YorkU in Toronto. My PhD has focused on making fluorinated electrophiles and using them to prepare amides useful to the pharmaceutical industry.

If I remember our proposal came around pretty fast, but reviews took eons. My guess is not many people are jumping to review a review 😬
