Appreciate you sharing these ideas, Jennifer, and agree that "all-purpose" time can be overwhelming at large conferences.

Sounds like a combination of more intentional space planning to create dedicated spaces for different uses, better communication/signage to help people self-select, and...

Really sucks we spent the 2010s zero interest rate decade debating "Housing for Whom?" with the dumbest people on Earth and now that we've finally begun to change some important laws, interest rates are high, there's a tariff on every building material and construction labor is getting deported.

I'm curious what the take-up on this will be. It's not a lot of money; I don't believe there's a lot of "ready to go" projects; and the concept is really only viable at present for small (generally older, often URM in Portland) buildings.

If it's doable though, what an opportunity.

High rises don't currently pencil in Portland, but that's not a reason not to plan for a future when they do.

Our current height limits are a legacy of 1970s anti-urban bias; we should take this moment when downtown's future is being debated to be really bold.

New Burnside Bridge construction delayed indefinitely; county blames federal uncertainty Design work on the project will continue. Multnomah County said the project's price tag has also risen to a range of $1.6-1.8 billion, up from around $900 million.

The Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge no longer has a start date for construction, due to what Multnomah County describes as "ongoing federal uncertainty" โ€” although the county also revealed today that the price tag has jumped from $895 million to $1.6-1.8 billion, so that probably doesn't help.
