A purpose of the war on Iran might well be to provoke a terrorist attack inside the United States. This would provide Donald Trump with a pretext to try to cancel or “federalize” the coming Congressional elections.

The only explanation for this stupid war that makes sense is as a pretext for terrorist attacks here, for which we are spectacularly unprepared, and as pretext for consolidating power.

I once interviewed an expert on oil consumption that focused on consumers. He said low gas prices are a religion for Americans and they will do absolutely nonsensical things to access them, like drive miles and miles out of their way.
If you wanna lose votes as fast as possible, raise gas prices.

war ≠ tariffs
Tariffs imposed arbitrarily can be reversed arbitrarily, and removal acts similar to a stimulus. Most who adjusted economic activity can readjust.
People killed in war don't come back to life. Infrastructure destroyed in war doesn't start working again. You can't just take it back.

This has become a thread of the war's environmental impact, much of which is from US-Israeli attacks on the Iranian oil industry (storage depots, etc).
