As a future healthcare provider I will use nutritional counseling for my patients and be sure to emphasize the importance of knowing what we are eating. I will help them by teaching them techniques and telling them how to stay motivated and committed to see results. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I liked seeing this post especially as I prep for my board exams because I tend to have a big list of things to do throughout the day but I think cutting them down and working on doing a few things well instead of doing multiple things is important as this post highlights even when studying.

Hi Mahi! I think its amazing how you talk about how this class and how it promotes us to apply our nutritional knowledge to patient care whether it is counseling or something else. It is also important to emphasize how when making changes it doesn't happen overnight and takes time so no giving up!

Orzo Salad - Love and Lemons
This easy orzo salad recipe is filled with feta, chickpeas, olives, fresh herbs, veggies, and Greek dressing. A delicious, healthy side dish!
One of the strategies I use during finals to make sure I eat enough nutrients and not have to stress about how much time I will be wasting making food instead of studying is by meal prepping. One of my favorite dishes is an orzo salad. It is also well balanced and easy. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Hi Ling! I enjoyed this article you posted as a recommendation for parents. One thing that I loved seeing from this article was how they list ways to educate their kids on nutrition rather then just changing their diets, such as school programs, community initiatives, and more.

This post talks about ingredients and things to watch out for when choosing healthy meals and foods, this is important as a parent trying to teach their children what is necessarily good and bad! Being able to learn early on can promote long term healthy habits.

Something that struck out in Tom's story was how he would eat good some days and junk food the others. This is something that don't often think about as providers when planning and I will talk to future clients how it's common they shouldn't feel bad about it on bad days. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Hi Julie! I loved reading your post about James Corden's video. He definitely emphasized the fact obesity can be heavily stigmatized in the media and negatively impact mental health. I think that make sure to have a balance in life can help with the negativity for sure and create a healthy space.

When it comes to obesity and changing your lifestyle it can be important to make decision that will give you long lasting results rather then short term, being consistent rather then extreme was something that I loved seeing in this post because many of us jump into doing too much and falling off.

Something that James Corden talks about in his video was the lack of knowledge that many individuals have on a healthy diet which can contribute to obesity. Not everyone has assess to something like a nutritionist or technology or classes that teach them. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I loved seeing this post as it gives strategies to fill us up with small meals. Being a student we don't get a lot of time on our hands and when we are hungry don't have time to eat, so when we do utilizing these strategies to be full longer definitely can be beneficial and help being hungry often.

Hi Gina! I completely agree with you aside from not having time which is something I wrote about, the prices of healthier options can be a challenge to afford as a student. Especially when you combine the two and some of those vegetables end up in the trash because you didn't have time to use it.

A barrier I can relate to is the lack of time we have as students to prepare healthy meals. This has beens something that has been a constant difficulty especially after college started because we have so much going on the time we have is not enough to make healthy meals. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Hi Himani! I have actually tried juice cleanses before and I completely agree with you. Even though these juices are high in vitamins and minerals sometimes juices lose fiber when they are juiced, along with that you don't get other nutrients in your body leading to lower satisfaction overall.

A fad diet that I have always been interested to learn more about is a keto diet. Although something I wonder is when trying to cut carbs and imbed more fats can this lead to higher chances of eating too much processed fats rather then unsaturated fats? #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is a perfect post for this week and something I am glad I ran into on bluesky! I've been trying to incorporate more protein in my meals and this gives me a great idea of how much 30 grams of each thing can equal out into especially black beans for my pasta salads!

I love pasta and will always have that as a meal although because I do not get protein as much protein as a vegetarian it can become a meal thats unbalanced, something like black beans in a pasta salad meal with vegetables will help me achieve a balanced meal.
