It's fascinating how all the people who insist it's just a phase also insist on aggressively repressing and crushing that phase rather than just letting it play out.

But why is anyone supposed to respect that? As usual, whenever Labourites attempt these 'well, this thing you're all yelling at me for is part of the Labour tradition' arguments, it only begs the question of 'actually, how worthwhile is the Labour tradition in 2026?'

Dr Alice Hodkinson, founder of Biology in Medicine, a campaign group, said: "We have known for years that cross-sex hormones are harmful for all children through to age 18 so we welcome this announcement.

"However, cross-sex hormones do not become any less harmful on a patient's 18th birthday. There is mounting evidence of the long-term adverse effects which include heart disease, stroke and early mortality.

"For all age groups there are huge concerns about access to illegal drugs privately and via EU loopholes, where patients are accessing prescription hormones from Spain and Ireland in particular, and also the use of illegal anabolic steroids direct from websites.

"We hope the Government will act on all these sources of hormones to protect vulnerable groups of children and young adults from bad actors."

While Labour continues its anti-trans agenda by denying medical assistance to trans young people, it will never be enough for certain "gender critical" ideologues. They won't be satisfied until no trans individuals can transition at all.

real ones know the real split in the left on economics is not "more state involvement" versus "less state involvement," it's universalism versus "discerning the deserving" and blue labour is easily on the latter end

You have run the country for two years and are averaging 18% in the polls. If the heartlands actually felt represented they’d be voting for you

There are "clocky" cisgender women who get sired without make-up, and there are "passing" trans women who get ma'amed no matter what!

The womanly experience is a spectrum that is wide and diverse, and "passing" plays into that but so to do general beauty standards & whether you fit into them!

09.03.2026 11:58 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Think part of this is understanding the difference between "not passing" & "not always fitting societal beauty standards" - bc these are separate things often conflated!

Particularly bc "not always meeting beauty standards" is actually an experience that connects the vast majority of women!

Genuinely I’m so tired of this soft soaping re β€œsocial conservatism” like it’s some anodyne political difference over tax or energy policy.

If you want to crackdown on refugees, or limit the rights of women and queer people, then we are not allies.

it would be nice if those bemoaning our lack of empathy for the socially conservative left explained what exactly i, as a cosmopolitan migrant whose friends are mostly queer people, should see as redeemable in them

can everyone on here stop the conspiratorial chat about developers and fire

obviously glasgow's had dodgy fires in abandoned buildings but this is not that! it was a busy, occupied building in the city centre

you're just taking attention from the real scourge which was likely unsafe vapes

A thing that’s shocking me about the lack of coverage is air safety info. Hi, Glasgow folk, from a Southern Californian transplant: ash from old buildings is super gnarly. Please wear a respirator if you need to be near the scene.

Queen Street is still available, but it goes different places!

We should withdraw permission for US and Israel troops to use any and all military facilities.

I still think the British position is weak (SΓ nchez has the optimum position) but it is very very good to see that the UK Government are holding the line for now on not getting further involved in this crime against humanity.

I think it's very bad to lose a grasp of which parties are threats to liberal democracy and which ones you merely don't like.

Good. Hopefully this signals a broader shift towards seriousness.

This is gross... and feels like it's moving in some sort of sphere adjacent to sexual harassment?! Why would you show a gay Jewish man holding hands with a far right homophobe, with a serious history of antisemitism?

Reid said she had taken the decision to temporarily stand down to avoid becoming a "distraction" for the government.

She also said it was to protect her children from "intrusion".

"This week has been the worst of my life. The shock of recent days has been difficult for me and my family," Reid said in a statement.

"I am not under investigation by the police and no accusations have been against me. I have done nothing wrong.

"I am voluntarily suspending myself from the whip and will not sit as a Labour MP until internal investigations are concluded. I will welcome and co-operate with any questions and worries the party may have."

I do genuinely wonder if Joani Reid might now have a scintilla, a shred, just the teensiest spark of sympathy for what Dr Beth Upton was put through, a monstering in the media so brutal she quit the NHS, as part of a campaign against trans people that Reid wholeheartedly supports.

Even when its not mandated per se, the fact that I need my university card to get into most buildings on campus means it just makes a lot of sense to have it around my neck for easy access!

Sects on the Brain A post-Gorton narrative which is dramatic, seductive, and wrong

🚨NEW BLOGPOST🚨

Is British politics becoming riven with sectarianism? Are we the next Lebanon? Does dodgy bloc voting dominate our elections?

Many are saying "yes" after Gorton & Denton. But it doesn't reflect any of the evidence.

Greens deputy leader calls for apology from Starmer over false claims that led to death threats Mothin Ali fears for his life after anti-war protest was wrongly described as being in support of Iranian regime

Starmer backing the false claim at PMQs that the Deputy Leader of the Greens protested in support of the Ayatollah should really be a bigger deal imo

Given that the UK's position in the last 50 years is that settlements are illegal and Israel cannot annex the West Bank, banning trade with West Bank settlements is really the absolutely minimal ask. It's pathetic that it hasn't happened.

Mahmood to stop study visas from four countries due to 'abuse' The government will end study visas from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan, due to what she says is abuse.

Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar & Sudan will find their citizens all losing the ability to come here legally on study visas, while Afghanistan is also losing skilled visas.

This is a form of collective punishment and is deeply discriminatory.
