zine showing how side yard setbacks are bad news for trees.

zine showing how side yard setbacks are bad news for trees.

this is incredible. lalali chan and @houseourneighbors.bsky.social produced a zine based on slides from a presentation i did on why setbacks make for terrible neighborhoods and cities with less space for trees.

it's perfect

Suburban Sprawl may seem cheap, but even the costs we CAN count are far too high, and we ALL pay them.

Glad to see WSDOT going with what’s obviously the best option here.

Honestly kind of funny considering my city's just beginning replacement for some pipes that are from the 19th century.

Also removed standard harmonization from the smaller elevator bill.

We've taken the 50 to Seward but it's not the easiest trip from where we are.

Absolute loser behavior by a city.

Once again I must pose the question:

Why does Bellevue, the bigger city, not simply eat Medina, the smaller city?

Using detailed address-level microdata, we trace movement chains originating with
the initial residents of The Central and document three main findings. First, we show
the building generated a substantial number of local vacancies. We identify 180 specific
addresses that became vacant because of moves into The Central. Scaling to account
for data coverage suggests the new tower induced more than 500 local vacancies in
the three years after construction, by setting off chains of moves. Second, while The
Central units were expensive on a per-square-foot basis, the homes vacated by movers
were significantly cheaper. Homes left behind by those moving into The Central were
about 40% less expensive. Unlike much of the prior literature, which track the changing
neighborhood characteristics of movers

Even more evidence that building new housing decreases rents: Researchers tracked the residents of a newly built luxury condo building and found that they freed up less expensive apartments nearby.

Honestly it took like 7 mins to unload the hundreds of cyclists. One more lane was almost necessary.

I mean, I consider myself an urbanist, and my biggest wish is just to see your theory tested. Let's scrap the zoning rules that enforce low density, apply utilities and other fees in proportion to cost to service by property type and then let the market sort it out.

Yielding to NIMBYs almost always means they take that as an early victory to double their efforts against progress. We should not give in to bad policy to simply find a "middle ground"

When they say "millions" here, they mean over $100M!

Together these awards totaled to:

Wilmington Safe Streets: $32M
Skid Row Connectivity Project: $39M
Boyle Heights Connectivity Project: $32M

(it's notable that the motion omits the embarrassing total)

This right here is why furnaces in California are asinine, they should only be #2wayAC aka #heatpump.

Although y'all in CA need to get your rates under control!

Go try your city and post it in the thread! www.natethehousewhisperer.com/how-much-of-....

Suppose it's not surprising that those who are present on the street in their community are those who are there for their community. Really why we should support more of these efforts.

Ridership on Seattle's Link Light Rail continues rising amid the system's many expansions, helping Seattle have the strongest year-on-year ridership growth of any major metro area in 2025!

Link ridership rose more than 27% in 2025, and its two lines will be connected in March!
