yeah--I don't think I knew who Hitch was other than a vague sense that 'Psycho' was a terrifying movie I couldn't watch.

I imagine it had something to do with the Hitchcock Estate and royalties. I think they retconned the whole series to cut him out.

I remember one where they were finding clues in Cockney rhyming slang and it was great.

I think they were pretty deep into the series when he died. But he does show up in a lot of them to introduce the case.
