No one should need to forego informed, compassionate touch. I wish I'd known about S4OM decades ago!

With advanced classes, periodic conferences, and plenty of online resources, S4OM provides me with the opportunity to work confidently with people in any stage of cancer, from diagnosis, through treatment, to survivorship or end of life.

With survival rates so much better than they were in decades past, a person with a history of oncology treatment will show up on your table sooner or later. Being the trigger for a late onset complication of treatment is far from quality care for our clients.

There is no "one simple thing" to know about oncology massage. I encourage all massage professionals to invest in quality oncology massage education, even if they don't want to work specifically with the oncology population.

who has beautiful intentions but complicated (and unnecessary) outcomes.I try to be understanding, as it could have been (and maybe was) me in the past. You don't know what you don't know, and I believe it's our obligation as healthcare, holistic, or wellness professionals to inform ourselves.

I thought I'd had training, but what I really had was just enough information to think I knew what I was doing. In the few years I've joined S4OM as a Preferred Practitioner, I've had a difficult conversation with a local massage colleague...

I knew I was long overdue for another oncology massage course when I took my first S4OM recognized foundational oncology training course. In addition to new developments over the years, the 24 hour CE course was exponentially more in-depth than the 8 hour classes I'd previously taken.
