This moon name actually feels timely in Edmonton! Another week and I would’ve made a lilac syrup cocktail. But instead we went with not one, but TWO floral liqueurs. People really prefer elderflower but the lonely bottle of Creme de Violette was begging for inclusion. So we “why not both”’d it.

May 12 full moon: the Flower Moon.

1.5 oz gin
0.5 Lillet
0.5 elderflower liqueur
0.5 creme de Violette
0.75 lemon
0.25 simple
Shake over ice and serve in a coupe.

For a low ABV version, omit the gin, pour into a Collins glass and top with soda. Boom.

Like a Last Word (last… worm?), with earthier qualities:

1 oz Mezcal (or gin/Genever)
1 oz Chartreuse
1 oz Amaro Punico
1 oz lime
0.5 oz grenadine
Sage

Shake over ice and double strain. (If using gin/genever, give your glass an absinthe rinse) Garnish with sage.

Yes!! So good. I can’t imagine this is actually a new drink (there are no new ideas and all) but I did come to it on my own and I’m pleased about that.

Full Moon cocktail for Feb 12, 2025: Snow Moon. My riff on a Ramos Gin Fizz.

1.5 oz Mezcal
0.5 oz Lillet
1 oz lemon
0.5 oz thyme agave syrup
1 tbsp coconut cream.

Dry shake, shake over ice, top with 1-2oz of soda water (according to your dilution preferences) in your globiest glass. Cheers!
