It's been a few years (decades?), but didn't Zabars used to have a shop in Grand Central? I seem to remember getting those cookies there!
Shit. I'm old.

My question: Is the Speaker of the House the only one who can legally administer the Oath of Office?
Why can't a judge, or even a Notary Public do it? It's just an Oath, not a goddamned Knighthood!
Dems should organize a swearing-in ceremony, in front of the Press and let Mikey sue or whatever.
Dude...
07.10.2025 19:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I grew up on Long Island in the '50s and '60s. No Zabars, but we did have a local deli where my father would pick up smoked whitefish and hand-sliced lox for Saturday morning. Ah, memories! These days, it's just been the packaged pre-sliced stuff. Maybe I owe myself a trip to Zabars!
07.10.2025 19:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0AND... the US Marshals Service reports to... Attorney General Pam Bondi.
07.10.2025 19:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The civil war Miller foments is not so "cold." Adversaries of the Administration are being attacked and killed, their homes burned, their families threatened.
It's less of a civil "war" and more of a campaign of terrorism.
October 7 and it's 83Β° in New York City.
The calendar must be wrong!
It's bad enough she refuses to answer questions, Bondi is an absolute harpy! Unforgivable behavior in an Administration official testifying before Congress!

07.10.2025 17:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Let me just add, or maybe emphasize, since I touched on it before:
Natural habitat is disappearing. Some because of climate, but mostly because of people moving into the land. What's left is all imperiled, one way or another. The main difference between zoos and museums is species extinction.
Ummm... people are not animals.
Zoos are non-profit educational institutions, supported primarily by taxes. Any animal conservation mission is secondary, or at worst just an excuse for having the animals in the first place. They do the best they can.
So, ban zoos, embrace ignorance and extinction.
A reminder, in case anyone needs one. There are only three ways to remove a President between elections.
1) Impeachment by the House and removal by the Senate. The latter needs 67 Senators. So far, Republicans show no interest.
2) 25th Amendment -- Trump's Cabinet shows no interest.
3) Force.
Well, if Congress actually cared about their function and responsibilities, they could always impeach her.
[insert hysterical laughter here]
FWIW, Tom Homan looks kinda like a potato. As "Border Czar" he's got something to do with all of this. But Lyons and Noem are more directly involved, so... crushed it is!
07.10.2025 16:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Don't get my hopes up like that.
07.10.2025 14:47 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You said "mashed" when you meant "masked."
I'd prefer the former.
Ooooh, LOOK! A PAYPHONE, too!
07.10.2025 14:38 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0So, what WOULD be the compassionate result?
The zoo doesn't have space for them. You can't overcrowd them. Other zoos don't have desire or capacity. There's no natural habitat safe for them or the existing fauna. And no baboon sanctuary that will take that species.
So.... what?
It'd be nice if there was a place for these animals. What do you propose?
07.10.2025 07:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Do you know why NHS is efficient? Because everyone is on salary! And their rent is paid! And their staff salary is paid, too. No one has to "over-code" to make rent and payroll, or hire coders, or waste time arguing with insurers.
07.10.2025 06:55 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Speaking of insurrectionist terrorists, what exactly is Stephen Miller? And is it true that he doesn't hold any official position in the US government?
07.10.2025 02:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Normally, the First Lady takes a leading role in decorating the White House, but in her absence, we have an overgrown child with execrable taste who has no idea when to stop.

But his ancestors were born on what's now US territory going back centuries before the Mayflower landed in Massachusetts.
Bloody nonsense of the lowest water.
Only in one narrow sense could you be even slightly right. Feeling you have immunity so you don't have to wear a mask while the virus is mutating constantly and escaping immunity might result in contracting the virus. But you're less likely to die.
Wear a mask!
Spy Magazine didn't call him a vulgarian for nothing. They called him a "short-fingered vulgarian" to be exact. Little did they know that he's also a "sticky-fingered vulgarian" today, profiting in every way possible from his office.
07.10.2025 01:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It needs less vulgarians.
07.10.2025 01:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Even Trump's lesser scandals, like profiting off his social club memberships, or his dabbling in cybercoins, would be bigger than any presidential scandal in US history.
The kiddie-shtupping might be the biggest scandal in WORLD history!
Well, this is yet more brain-dead performance theatre by HHS/CDC.
Note to pharmacists: Print up some fact sheets, have any customer who wants a shot sign a copy, and presto! All set.
