Just listened to the novella "Constituent Service" by @scalzi.com (narrated by Amber Benson) and really liked it! As it started, I was expecting it to be a bunch of short stories, but it was actually one complete story. "Fun" is the word that pops instantly to mind.

Thinking yesterday about ways to reduce waiting time for your turn in 4 player #boardgames. Maybe 4 boards with different phases, & players rotate around the boards? You're always playing. But interaction becomes asynchronous (you're still affected by others' actions, but disconnected). Less social.

I just finished listening to the audiobook of "Service Model" by @aptshadow.bsky.social. It was funny, adventurous, and thoughtful at the same time. It is not derivative, but if you want a flavor of it, imagine a mix of Douglas Adams and Martha Wells, where the main character is a cousin of C3P0.

We haven’t even started day one yet, but the propaganda has already begun.

But for the love of god, know when you’re being manipulated. This was all manufactured, it’s not like the government flipped the “off” switch this weekend.
