Can't believe it's been nearly 960 years since them slags smashed an arrow into Harold Godwinson's mincer. Still freaks my nut out to this day.

That never occurred to me!

So, during Lockdown The Lads (Grandsons) and did Zoom modelling sessions. This one was with DAS modelling clay and a wooden mannequin. Today, young Benj found my effort and decided to paint it. The figure is intended to be a Gerry Anderson villain.

I remember getting it for my birthday when it was very first released in 1966. And it then had the David Brown tractor and bomb trolleys. I also recall it being expensive:12/6d.
I have that reboxed issue in the loft.

I have a couple of Fury’s too (and built one when they were first released). In view of the limited kits available of inter-war aircraft at the time plus Harry Woodman’s book on scratch building and the Alfred Grainger Data Plan’s - I started scratch building..

Now this would be interesting and fun to reproduce in miniature…

It’s my favourite period - I built the Matchbox Siskin in the 1970’s. I now have a couple in the loft

The past is a different country. I can relate directly to his childhood and getting involved in modelling and wargaming. I started mastering figures in the 1970’s and I met a few of the characters of the time. My interests are now different and a disposable income means I can do things differently,

The display case of Mont St Michel as it was a couple of centuries or more ago. It's kind of fun to pull out Google Earth and compare

Low down shot of the abbey. You'll recognise it from hundreds of postcards.

The other end of the island. At the top you cab see the gable end of the abbey is open. Inside further details are present, although possibly not tiny monks to play with.

Perhaps the most detailed model is that of Mont St Michel - with opening buildings it's a dollhouse fit for a king.

Citadelle Saint Martin De Re, no a works heritage site and then a massively defended port on a strategically essential island

...or how a clean sheet and loads of cash allowed Vauban to indulge his talents as a defensive engineer.

No you're not.
Artists generally only show their "best" work. All the effort goes unseen. The issue with social media and "works in progress" is that the outcome isn't always as successful as the artist/modeller may want.
I joy seeing the work progress.
