I don't think I've ever taken a longer walk to get to a joke than revealing the origin of Sig's name in episode 9 and it's my favorite joke in the entire series. From the concept to the title of the episode, it all came to me in one burst while I was riding the bus to work and then I shaped the entire season to get there. I don't know if I'll ever be that funny ever again.

We are at 65% of our goal and today's fun fact is about my favorite joke in the entirety of ANA. Help us get funded for more very long walks to hyperspecific punchlines!

40%! The morse code you hear at the start of the telegram episodes is the first few words of the telegram! Same thing for the morse code at the end - it's the last few words of the telegram. The dits and dahs are different each time!

30%! I bought a SFX pack called Darkscapes which is a bunch of different unsettling drones and I used this pack in almost every episode of Re: Dracula.

While I'm mid-crowdfunding (cough cough support igg.me/at/refrank cough), does anyone have questions about crowdfunding for audio drama? Happy to answer! I've done it a lot.

I do individual as I don't have an LLC (yet!)

I think 1 month is the perfect amount of time!

Common mistakes: not explaining what the show is about, not promoting their crowdfund, not having any proof of concept (ex: trailer, first episode), bad tier pricing distribution

What's the future of audio fiction? FILES! BANDCAMP! BONUSES!

Get your feed and socials active before you start funding! Maybe make a miniseries or bonus episode. The best way to connect with fans is to create!

I also think it's a good idea to do fixed funding and only make the show if you hit the goal. This is what we did for Re: Dracula - paid some money up front to make a trailer and then told folks we'll need em back if we hit our funding goal.

I tell people to use flexible funding if they're planning to make the show anyway - pay rates could be based on % raised (we did this for SDITE). I've also seen funds raised correlated to # of episodes produced. Less funds = shorter season.

I dedicate about an hour day! If I didn't do pre-made graphics to post that'd probably double.

Depends on your audience! A first time show by a new creator might struggle to raise $1k, but a second season or new show by a known creator could get $5k-$10k. The best goal is one you think you can reach.
