On Day 1 of #FIDHCongress in Bogotá, just transition was high on the agenda - right ahead of #COP30!

Our plenary session dived into how we can develop pathways for systemic change in the face of environmental crisis.

No transition without human rights and justice!

📢 FIDH calls for their immediate and unconditional release.

📢 FIDH also calls for an end to the widespread use of inhumane treatment in Israeli detention facilities.

Such treatment constitutes acts of torture under international law.
📢 FIDH condemns the abduction of the Flotilla members and the mistreatment they are enduring.

Lawyers from Adalah, FIDH's member organisation documented and reported physical violence, verbal harassment, deprivation of adequate drinking water, food, sleep, and medication, as well as prolonged confinement in uncomfortable stress positions.

🚨 The Flotilla participants — including FIDH's Vice Presidents Alexis Deswaef & Aziz Rhali, who have been illegally detained by Israel since October 2nd, are being subjected to abuse and mistreatment.

FIDH strongly denounces the conditions of the activists' detention and the obstacles faced by lawyers from our member organisation Adalah, who struggled to offer legal aid to the activists.

Several activists, including our Vice President Alexis Deswaef, refused to sign papers falsely recognising an “illegal entry” into Israeli territory and have begun a hunger strike. A hearing is scheduled at the prison.

Activists are being transferred to Saharonim prison, near Ketsiot prison, except for those from the Marinette's boat, intercepted today.

Non-violent humanitarian aid to Gaza is not a crime.
