They were not markings of combat for Rodney knew his star shield’s training and schedule. And, what fleeting relief it was, they looked not to be strikes of ire. No, they were clearly love bites centralized on places of delight and pleasure, most abundant on his inner thighs and shoulders. To solidify the observation, the curl of a smile was caught on the First Shield’s lips as he scurried away to the shadows. Destroying Rodney’s heart all the while. A budding denial, bitter and scathing, scaled the Lord Commander’s throat, mixing with bile and butterfly. He dared not face it, instead packing it down as he fought daydream and loss of days long behind him. Rodney wept.
