(add of sorts, I dislike bsky-ing my thoughts on splat bc it doesn't matter, I'm a non-top-level random, aware that I'm not good enough at the game to be regarded, and the most anyone will get out of it is arguing about it which stresses me out. But sometimes I need to get something off my chest)

I don't know what I'm trying to get at by complaining I guess, and maybe I'm too old and employed and have too little free time and all that to have valid opinions on getting good at a video game. I just dislike the idea that pickup culture is an answer to anything. (4/4)

to commit (especially with the long tourney formats, sorry SoS) so to go "well, that sucked and was a miserable experience time to get ready for work tomorrow" feels really, really bad. SQ is the closest I'll get and even then I end up sitting in queue for longer than I actually play (3/4)

it feels like there's often a mismatch (in what people want to get out of playing, personality, etc) no matter whether it's 8s or tourney pickups which makes it hard to improve or enjoy the game. 8s particularly are pretty bad about this and tourneys are my entire evening free time (2/4)

(8-1-25) Moved about half of them into a 3 gallon I had set up as quarantine for shrimp (only snails in there rn though)
