A graphic of the three sides of a bus. There are three logos City of Calgary X Rawry & Pohly X Calgary Arts Development. The text reads Fall 2024. The three sides of the bus depict different scenes from a celebration in Chinatown. On one side a lion dance with anthropomorphic derpy cabbages, drippy clouds, lanterns, and gongs. The Lions are derpy. There is a dragon dance held up by comical stickmen that look like popsicles with legs. Confetti is everywhere. The back has stone lions and magpies. There are patterns all around the bus, similar to Chinese Porcelain patterns found on plates, cups, and bowls that would be found frequently in Chinatown.
The image depicted is a courtyard with a bus parked in the centre and people milling about the area. The bus has two sides visible, the back and the right side with the door. A tree with fall leaves is in the background. On the long side a lion dance with anthropomorphic derpy cabbages, drippy clouds, lanterns, and gongs. The Lions are derpy. Everything is derpy. On the back there are three logos City of Calgary X Rawry & Pohly X Calgary Arts Development. Confetti is everywhere. The back has stone lions and magpies. Prepping an application for a new project and having fond thoughts of this amazing collaborative project with Chinatown
"The Bus to Chinatown" 2024

October 25th to 27th, 2024!
Stop by and say hi!
A photography of a massive mural beside a parking lot. The mural is a reimagined version of the scroll Along the River During the Qingming Festival. The mural depicts the Song dynasty in China, stylistically the characters are derpy and whimsical, and the main focus of the mural is a bridge bustling with activity. Vendors sell their wares, government officials are in standoffs, a boat is trying to navigate underneath the bridge, but is close to hitting it. Around the bridge is a river and the edge of a city.
I wasn't sure what to post first, so here is our mural that we painted in Chinatown in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2022, "Along the Bow" a modern interpretation of the ancient scroll "Along the River During the Qingming Festival"!
