I still had fun last night! And I certainly think there’s a place for an end of the con social space versus a dance space. I feel like other conventions (who have more attendance and more revenue to keep more of the hotel, let’s be blunt) benefit from having a few more options in the final hours.

That’s what I was expecting to walk into last night, just based on my experiences in other cons. Maybe this is just a difference in expectations from newcomers to canfurence, and there’s a trend of cons treating the dead dog as more of a rave than a social experience.

From the perspective of someone who’s only been going to cons for a couple years, the other conventions I’ve been to (ANE and FE) treat the Dead Dog as more a of a “DIY” style rave, more or less exactly like the Thursday night rave at CanFur. Small room, lights turned off, small PA.
