HMS Bulwark started life as one of five London-class pre-dreadnought battleships built for the Royal Navy at the end of the 19th century. On 26 November 1914, she was destroyed by a large internal explosion with the loss of 741 men near Sheerness; only a dozen men survived the detonation.

HMS Bulwark returned during the second World War designated as R08, a 22,000 ton Centaur-class light fleet aircraft carrier. Initially commissioned as a light aircraft carrier in 1954, the ship was converted into a commando carrier in 1958 and recommissioned as such in 1960 (as depicted by her character card, shown here).

In real life, she is currently serving modern day the second ship of the Royal Navy's Albion-class assault ships. She is one of the United Kingdom's two landing platform docks designed to put Royal Marines ashore by air and by sea. Although launched in 2001, delays caused the delivery date to be put back, and the ship entered service In 28 April 2005.

Bethany is often described as a tough nut to crack due to her tough nature, giving her the appropriately fitting name, Bulwark, after the reference to the Navy as the 'bulwark' (defence) of the country, and it’s what’s earned her the nickname, “Buff Bethany”. Bethany’s important role in the navy, was first shelling capital ships with her large guns in WW1, then after being rebuilt in WW2, carrying aircraft helicopters as part of her roles as a light fleet carrier, commando carrier, and anti-submarine warfare carrier. Due to this, she is highly respected, and known as a tougher force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, especially in her current days as a Landing Platform Dock.

Personally, I feel like I can draw better on Digital, rather than paper.
But I decided to show my concept art anyways. Enjoy! ❤️

HMS Revenge

Lead ship of her class, launched May 29th, 1915.
Commissioned February 1st, 1916
Served in both world wars and was decommissioned and scrapped in 1948.

A veteran of both world wars, Reverie is a force to be reckoned with on the high seas, and despite her age, she is among the most loyal subjects in all the Royal Navy, willing to lay down everything in her possession to ensure the safety of her comrades. Having served in Jutland and the Greco-Turkish conflict, Reverie’s expertise in the front lines has shaped her experience in both peacetime and wartime, although her skills shine most when escorting large convoys of supply ships carrying war materials urgently needed by troops further inland. Now having had her prime go past and gone, she resides as a training ship for the up-and-coming next generation of warships… but should another conflict arise where every fighting spirit is needed, great old Reverie will put off her retirement for a little while longer, and won’t rest until she knows her friends are safe.

Fun fact: The armor Reverie is seen wearing here in her character card is actually what is referred to as “Alicorn Armor”.
All ships from WWI wore that until it was over. Alicorn armor was phased out as faster battleships began to phase out the older and slower designs, much like Reverie, Bellerophon, Iron Duke, Duke of Edinburgh, or Queen Elizabeth, signaling not only the end of an Era, but also the of the Dreadnought battleship, as a frontline combatant.

HMS Vanguard was a British fast battleship built during the Second World War and commissioned after the war ended. She was the largest and fastest of the Royal Navy's battleships, and the only ship of her class. Vanguard was the last battleship to be built in history.
In 1955 cost of her upkeep became too great. She was scrapped at Faslane in 1959. The largest battleship ever to be entirely dismantled.

In Iron Maiden’s, she actually ended up staying in service, and much like the other ships, was heavily upgraded, or given a new ship overtime.

Vanny is the youngest, and is watched over mainly by HMS Iron Duke, as well as Duke of York and Duke of Edinburgh, Iron Duke has served as a mentor and father figure to Vanny, and despite Iron Dukes questionable tendencies, has actually proven that he is able to have a caring heart, and has formed a fatherly bond with Vanny.
Vanny also chose to take after Mary in becoming a Devoted Christian and Nun, and as fellow Royal Navy peers have described her as having the soul of an Irish Angel. :)

HMS Duke of Edinburgh was the lead ship of the Duke of Edinburgh-class armoured cruisers built for the Royal Navy in the early 1900s. He was stationed in the Mediterranean when the First World War began and participated in the pursuit of the German battlecruiser SMS Goeben and light cruiser SMS Breslau. HMS Duke of Edinburgh was Sunk by a German U-boat in 1942, together with 58 of his crew and 465 gold bars intended as payment from Russia to America for war equipment, that lay undetected 200 miles off Murmansk, 800 feet below the surface of the Barents Sea.

Edin, also serving as the other guardian to HMS Vanguard, is described as being one of the quieter, and more soft spoken gentlemen of the group. Edin is more of the peace maker, however if provoked, is not afraid to bring out the inner raging Scot.
He also holds a few secrets, wether it be for other comrades or those who feel comfortable venting to him due to his therapeutic nature, or mainly himself. There’s one secret of his in particular, that he may or may not eventually tell, is one he’s been hiding for decades. What might this be? You’ll probably see eventually :)

Here’s the character card for HMS Duke of York!

HMS Duke of York was a King George V-class battleship of the Royal Navy. Laid down in May 1937, the ship was constructed by John Brown and Company at Clydebank, and commissioned into the Royal Navy on 4 November 1941, subsequently seeing combat service during the Second World War.
In 1945, Duke of York was assigned to the British Pacific Fleet as its flagship, but arrived too late to see any action before Japan surrendered. After the war, Duke of York remained active until she was laid up in November 1951. She was eventually scrapped in 1957.
However, in Iron Maiden’s, he actually did get a new Ship.

Yorkshire is best described as being a chipper fellow, full of charisma and Charm. He’s one of the three Dukes in the trio involving HMS Iron Duke, and HMS Duke of Edinburgh. He’s also the youngest out of the three Dukes, and unlike Iron Duke, who has Antihero-like tendencies, actually tries to look on the brighter side of things. Both he and Edinburgh stand as the second and third Guardians to HMS Vanguard when Iron Duke is not around.

Here we have the Character card for WII Dreadnought, and Iron Duke Class Battleship, HMS Iron Duke himself!

HMS Iron Duke was launched October 12, 1912, and Commissioned on March, of 1914, serving as the flagship of the UK Home and Mediterranean fleets until being reassigned to a training ship in 1926, and later becoming a target ship in 1930 until October 1939, where he was beached in Scapa Flow, later being refloated and scrapped in March, of 1946.

A shadowy figure and having views akin to that of an antihero, Iron Duke is a veteran of conflict dating all the way back to the Great War, where he served as flagship during such conflicts such as the Battle of Jutland. His tendency to take risky actions to ensure the survival of of fleetmates could be justified as reasonable, albeit Iron Duke’s time as a target ship changed his views on the modern navy as a whole. Regardless, his unmatched combat ability, swordsmanship, and natural ability to bend shadows to his will are highly respected among his peers.
However, despite respect from most, others view him as unhinged due to this Antihero-like nature.

And a side note: To anyone who hurts Vanguard, there’s no escape for you.

HMS Lioness Launched March 15th, 1944, and commissioned December 11th, 1944, and was scrapped in 1956 in real life.
However, in the Iron Maiden’s Universe, she stands as one of Royal navy’s main Mine Sweepers, scavenging the seas for any potential threats of sea mines laid by other Navies.

Lioness would seem to be a very quiet, reserved individual, however, don’t let that fool you into thinking she’s not a fighter. This little minesweeper takes her job of protecting the coastlines from deadly mines very seriously, and her fencing skills are top-tier for a warship so small. Her combative ability makes Lioness one of the most respected small vessels among the Royal Navy.

HMS Ark Royal (Pennant Number. 91) was an aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy that was operated during the Second World War. Designed in 1934 to fit the restrictions of the Washington Naval Treaty, Ark Royal was built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead, England, and completed in November 1938.
In real life, her fate ended up being that she was Torpedoed by German U-boat U-81 on the 13th of November, 1941.

Serving as a counselor and one of the higher ups, Arkness, much like Bellerophon, having the stoic nature, is a little more strict and uptight compared to Bellerophon.
Her rank as a Noble Rabbit simply means she’s a promoted soldier, and has been qualified as a Counselor to aircraft, and other ships.

She is one of the many aircraft carriers you will soon see her on this page, so stay tuned :)

HMS Tornado was a Royal Navy R-class (Roland Class) destroyer constructed and then operational in the First World War. She was sunk, with most of her crew in 1917 On the 23rd of December when 1917 HMS Surprise, HMS Torrent, and HMS Tornado herself sank after entering an Imperial German minefield in real life.

Ally ended up surviving, unlike her colleagues unfortunately, and was later given a new destroyer ship. She’s one of the original WWI ships much like Bellerophon, and a few others, serving as one of the older members who are of status as a guardian, or mentor of such.

HMS Tornado works along side HMS Lightning, and HMS Thunderer, as part of the “Elemental” storm trio.

Ally is the type of person who will love you until you get into a “twist” with her. She’s by no means dangerous unless provoked, so no need to fear her :) 👍

HMS Lightning (G55) was an L-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was launched on the 22nd of April, 1940 and in real life, was sunk on the 12th of March, 1943 by German Motor Torpedo Boat S-55.

Lexi, as mentioned above, is one of the many tech wizzes of the British Navy, as well as a lightning bender who can manipulate electricity to her liking.
She serves as a close friend who is supportive to Iron Mary, upon her first days of the Royal Navy.
If youre wondering who HMS St. Nicholas is to Lexi, he’s someone y’all will meet later. He comes into the series somewhere before WWII ends.
Lexi is a very eccentric lady, and she sure lives up to her name, especially on the battlefield. While she has the personality of your typical sweetheart, she’s not afraid to flare her inner sass, especially when Valence or someone else, has the tendency to annoy the others.
At the end of the day, she survives and thrives as a proud member of the Royal Fleet, and intends to serve until the end of tides. ⚡️
